"Still if you practice observation with a mind attached to projected reality, you will never be aware of bad feelings in yourself. Only when your mind is utterly detached from projected reality can you observe the phenomenal world and truly understand right and wrong. In fact, you are just like a sobered man. Freshly awakened, he can now see the evil he did while he was drunk, deeds of which he was completely unconscious before." Life of Sima Chengzhen: Sima Chengzhen (AD 647-735) was a renowned Daoist priest of the Tang dynasty.

I want to share a personal example of this works. This happened yesterday. Long story so bear with me. I’m 69-3/4 now. We have a group of five high schools’ friend where I live and we get together and have lunch and tell lies a few times a year.

After setting up a time to meet I started thinking back on my high school football playing days. We all played football together. We had a good team and I played left guard and I was the designated pulling guard on passing and running plays. We ran the ball for 300-400 yards in many of our games.

At the end of the year, I was not on either of the papers all city teams. Didn’t honestly think much of it. I did get called to the office one day and there was a group of us there and we were notified we had been selected to the Quarterback Club all city team. I was thrilled.

So, we go to the luncheon and have a meal then receive the award. The man that gave me mind said to me, “now you have one to go with your brothers.” My brother lettered in five sports in high school and was the quarterback. He was a hell of an athlete and always a better athlete than me.

At the time my thought was that I had been selected because I was his brother. I also thought it had to do with grades and participation. I had good grades and was senior class vice president. I carried this thought around with me since that time; 52 years.

At lunch yesterday I brought up the quarterback’s club and wondered why on center was part of the group, when he had been elected to both all city teams from the papers. One of the groups looked at me and told me, “The quarterback club election is voted on by the players you played with and against.”

I shifted in that moment. For 52 years I’ve been thinking I didn’t fully earn being selected when in fact I was elected by the guys I played against. They had enough respect for me and how I played the game to select me. This means more to me that being selected by the sportswriters.

I’d been living in projected reality about this experience filtering what the presenter said to me through my less than filter VS seeing it for what it truly was in the phenomenal world.

That's intense! Well done you :)

Honestly, it wasn't intense. I've been meditating and doing energy work since spring 1997. Regular practice and shifting consciousness, makes the information come through more easily. We just need to be present and seize/recognize the moment when it presents itself. As you begin this journey of the Way, you are changing how you see the world around you, how you choose to experience it. Take care. brian

Now, think of this example and what it might mean if you've carried something unresolved from your 1st lifetime, lifetime after lifetime. How it affects your perception of the phenomenal world. It is buried in your subconscious, but affects your decision making lifetime after lifetime, repeating over and over until you unearth it and have your moment of "Observation" about it. Now, how many of these instances have we accumulated over how many lifetimes? Boggles the mind.

This is the purpose of meditation, grounding, and protection exercises. To focus your energy and stop looking at the external and begin looking at the internal. Over time your perception will shift and you will see things in a different way and this different way will only grow over time as long as you continue with your exercises.

A very wise man once told me, "Serve the self first." He meant it not in a selfish way, but that we must change ourselves first and let this change affect things around us without us doing anything. Isn't this what Laotzu says, the sage does everything without doing anything.

I do not believe in multiple life times, reincarnation, resurrection, etc. I have just one life, mostly already over (complete 84 this month).
I am a strong atheist and I do not believe in superstition. I will follow Buddha. When I go even Brahma and Indra will not be able to find me.
Using meditation to find about previous births is foolishness. Previous lives or future lives do not exist. You live only once.
I am not a Samyakasama Bhuddha, I am a Pratyeka Buddha (Pacceka Buddha).

I think we can share our beliefs without insulting each other?

I don't just speak of my beliefs, but from my personal experiences. I went to work for a company after interviewing with them 3 times. Told my wife after the 1st day, I made a huge mistake. Turns out it was perfect. I had planned this to jump start myself this lifetime. I had three lifetimes with my new boss, the reason for my energetic reaction. I uncovered and healed each one so I could and did leave them behind.

Part of this journey for me this lifetime is discovering past life connections I have with people around me. Learning healing etc...

One such lifetime was in China @ 600 CE when I was a Taoist monk. My master teacher then was Master Chang as he is still from the other side. His wisdom and guidance has been a blessing in my life from the moment I met him back then.

Picture of my wife and I in China in May of 1999 at an ancient Tomb in the ancient city of Teng hsien. The story of how we got there is another story of how it just unfolded for us.

Take care.

But do you believe you have been 'reincarnated' continuously back upon this world -- or that you have experienced 'rebirth' perhaps in other worlds and dimensions?

I believe the Buddha compared the chance of regaining a human rebirth upon this world as the chance of a blind turtle surfacing under a piece of wood with hole in it, randomly floating on the ocean surface, and coming up with its head through the hole in the wood?

(I do understand that you are posting as a Taoist and not as a Buddhist)

RJM: I have no experience with dimensional stuff, but I think it is possible it is all happening at once and we see snippets of a variety of the dimensions, but no direct experience.

My experiences have all been associated with timelines that have existed this cycle. Going as far back as cave man times. Others have been placed in different trappings that kind of identify the time.

My first experience was a shock. I was in meditation and I saw a man lying down, but with a man standing next to him. The prone person was waist high. This was in color which is rare for me. The standing man had on a peacock head dress and armbands. I felt like the prone person was me and I was being held spread eagle. There was also a woman present. I forgot about this, but wrote it down in my meditation journal.

About a week later my wife and I were sitting in our dining room. She is a gifted medium and we were finishing a reading for us, just checking in. When I finished I remember this visual and started to ask her about it, but before I could say anything I felt this inrush of powerful emotions and it took my breath away and I uttered a sound that was unintelligible.

We sat there for a second for me to collect myself. She said I was being sacrificed. Aztec/Mayan. The emotion that came rushing in was terror. It was the terror I had experienced during my sacrifice. It had been out there in the ether waiting for me to accept what had happened to me. The priest with the head dress was my cousin from this life time, not a good soul, very dark and the woman had been my wife.

So in accepting this and feeling the truth it was released from my energy, no longer do i need to carry it with me.
