Question: If Islam is the religion of peace, why did Apostle Mohammed waged war against other religions?

The apostle started war against other religions for these reasons:

1- As for non heavenly religions as Buddhism, Magianism and others, because those religions were invented by man not revealed by heavenly divine revelation, so their orders and rules were confused and they were not suitable for people at different places or times, mature minds also couldn’t accept what they order.

Whereas the Jewish and Christians people who followed the truth and kept to it, they believed in him and followed him as mentioned in those religions and recommended by their apostles.

But those who sought benefits of this life and priesthood or clerical positions changed and distorted their religions to suit their desires, they also told their followers untrue sayings about Islam and its prophet, different from the facts they know and mentioned in their religions.

2- As the apostle was sent by the truth from Allah to all people as mentioned in the Koran:

“We have not sent you but as a universal (Messenger) to people, giving them glad tidings, and warning them (against sin),” Surat Saba’ Verse 28.

So he had to make the facts of religion illustrated by Allah clear to all people and everyone prevent him from expounding this he should dislodge him so as to be able to do the mission instructed by Allah.

3- If we returned to the facts of history, we see that the apostle didn’t declare war against such people but they incited their kings and their followers to collect armies to fight him, their bishops and rabbis carried out the morale war to mislead beat his religion, so he (peace be upon him) was just defending himself and declaring the orders, morals and principles he got from his Lord and we see the time proved and still proving that they are the most useful for mankind at all times and everywhere, humanity need this badly now, that’s why the English writer Bernard Shaw said after the second world war in which more than 30 million people were killed: If Mohammed was among us now, he would solve all the problems of humanity as if he is having a cup of coffee

Except that Messenger Muhammad saws did not wage wars against other religions. In fact, he did not even start a war with polytheistic Arabs of his time. The war he fought against them was not provoked by him, he and his people did not want the war, and Allah SWT never ordered such a war until it was determined that Muslims must defend. Allah SWT says in the Qur'an that humans are created diverse, of different beliefs, and that not all will be Muslims. And there is a reason for that, and since those are facts Muslims and Muhammad saws did not wage wars against such peoples unprovoked.

Islam (dien)= peace

Moses = peace
Jesus = peace
Muhammad = peace

same religion, same sharia, same message,

The same religion (dien) has He established for you as that which He enjoined on Noah - the which We have sent by inspiration to thee - and that which We enjoined on Abraham, Moses, and Jesus: Namely, that ye should remain steadfast in religion, and make no divisions therein: to those who worship other things than Allah, hard is the (way) to which thou callest them. Allah chooses to Himself those whom He pleases, and guides to Himself those who turn (to Him).( سورة الشورى , Ash-Shura, Chapter #42, Verse #13)

but after moses they divided into sects and called themselves Jews religion
but after Jesus they divided into sects and called themselves Christians religion
but after Muhammad they divided into sects and called themselves Islam religion

this is why god keep sending messenger after messenger...

Say: "O People of the Book! (jew, christian, muslim) ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord." It is the revelation that cometh to thee from thy Lord, that increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. But sorrow thou not over (these) people without Faith.
( سورة المائدة , Al-Maeda, Chapter #5, Verse #68)

As for those who divide their religion and break up into sects, thou hast no part in them in the least: their affair is with Allah: He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they did. ( سورة الأنعام , Al-Anaam, Chapter #6, Verse #159)

And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other).
But people have cut off their affair (of unity), between them, into sects: each party rejoices in that which is with itself.
( سورة المؤمنون , Al-Mumenoon, Chapter #23, Verse #53)

SO TODAY MANKIND SPLIT INTO SECTS (jew, christain, muslim)...
SO ARE WE REALLY FOLLOW THE WAY OF THE PROPHETS?

I have had wonderful lengthy discussions with many Muslims,

there, however, is one particular question that has always puzzled me.

one simple question I would like to have answered from an educated Muslim who has full knowledge in their faith.

my question is - What was Mohammed's Dispute With The Jews Around Him ?

meaning………………………………

what was it about the faith and belief system of the Jews where Mohammed lived that was in disobedience and against the core basic foundational teachings of the Quran ?

For me personally I am unable to see any evidence whatsoever that demonstrates that the Jews where Mohammed lived were in any conflict or disagreement with the core principle, foundational teachings of the Quran.

in fact, the Jews did not reject Mohammed’s core basic message about God’s laws,

the jews did not disagree with Mohammed about the oneness of God =

the jews did not disagree with anything regarding the moral code of God and his laws about idols and sin and the commandments of God.

so – can we really know - what was it about the faith and was Mohammed’s big problem with the jews ?

what caused Mohammed to feel upset with the jews and what was it concerning their faith that would cause Mohammed to rebuke the Hebrew people around him?

the jews around Mohammed believed that God was one single God –

the jews did not worship idols and other God’ s –

in fact the jews around Mohammed - they rejected that jesus was the son of God, the jews accepted every single last commandment that Mohammed concluded about basic critical laws of God

Mohammed mentions nothing about moral or law disagreements that he had with the jews,

the jews around Mohammed - are not shown to have disagreed with Mohammeds moral code - every single commandment and every single critical core and basic law and ordinance of God that Mohammed eventually decided - the jews obeyed and believed.

I have looked everywhere I can look and I am unable to find a single example of where the jews around Mohammed disobeyed the quran - or - a single example - where that the jews around Mohammed failed to accept the laws of God or failed to believe and accept in the moral code of every single last thing in the quran.

the Jews did not disagree with Mohammed upon basic principles regarding idols, adultery, murder, theft, the trinity, Sabbath, the oneness of God, the moral obligations of a faith.

in Fact - The Jews held to even a much stricter law and teaching about not divorcing your wife for no just cause or good reason

the jews accepted every single last core and basic commandment that Mohammed concluded about basic critical laws of God - Mohammed mentions nothing about moral or law disagreements that he had with the jews

was Mohammed's dispute with the Jews..........the Jews did not disagree with Mohammed upon basic principles regarding idols, adultery, murder, theft, the trinity, Sabbath, the oneness of God, the moral obligations of ones faith

all of the basic principles regarding animal sacrifices, circumcision, idols, adultery, murder, theft, the trinity, sabbath, the oneness of God, even the simple basic moral obligations of justice and morals, all these basic important principles in Islam that the Quran teaches

☞ the Jews themselves also believed perfectly.

The Old Testament still today - holds the same teachings about - animal sacrifices, circumcision, idols, adultery, murder, theft, REJECTION of the trinity, the sabbath, the oneness of God.

today ︸ ☞ today just as yesterday

why do Muslims claim that the Old Testament is corrupt when nothing in the Old Testament contradicts or disagrees with the basic core and foundational principles of the Quran

The Old Testament still today holds the same teachings about - animal sacrifices, circumcision, idols, adultery, murder, theft, the trinity, sabbath, the oneness of God.

If there is a Muslim who could assist in answering this question I would really appreciate this.

God bless you alway

i think this is the main question that many people do not realize has never been answered and when we begin to understand more about this situation a new light can be shinned into a darkened corner

a darkened corner that has never been explored with bright light

The dispute is probably not from theological controversy, but in-group vs out-group thinking. They are not us, they are different, they are strange, we are rivals, we do not trust outsiders, etc. Happens over and over again throughout human history to this day.

What was Mohammed's Dispute With The Jews Around Him ?
Well, speaking as a non-Muslim, I would presume that if he experienced new revelations from God that people around him did not accept, and instead insisted on keeping to older practices, then I could see that leading to disagreement. :)

ooh sure I completely understand everything that was said in the wonderful comments made by ": Brian and TheLightWithin :"

the only thing i can think of to say in return-
there seems more to it all than just a mistrust or a distancing from Hebrew outsiders or even a need of early Muslims to rigorously punish Jews for any rejection and disagreement of new revelation......

although, I totally agree with you, completely.... you are correct, you're mentioning the basic common sense of the situation.

but for just the " BASIC - CRITICAL - FOUNDATIONAL - CORE LAWS, CORE Quranic fundamentals -
the Jews did not reject or deny or argue with any of these basic Islamic teachings,
neither does the Old Testament differ or disagree with the CRITICAL LAWS of the Quran and Mohammed..........

the sabbath, as i mentioned -
idols, the idea of Jesus as God -
all of the core important fundamentals and critical laws of the Quran
the Jews were in perfect alignment and agreement,
the Old Testament as well.

the Quran and Old Testament have Critical Laws --- PUNISHABLE BY DEATH - SIN - BLASPHEMY -
PUNISHMENT FOR BREAKING MORAL CODES....

I would like to understand from a Muslim perspective - What was Mohammed's Dispute With The Jews Around Him ?
besides the personality disagreements or a trading grievance or some minor difference in minor details that are not even worthy of punishment in the standards of Quran

I would like to understand from a Muslim perspective - What was Mohammed's Dispute With The Jews Around Him ?
As far as I'm aware, Muhammad SAW did not have any personal grievance against Jews.
There are verses in the Qur'an that criticise Jews for certain types of behaviour and historical
events .. but there are also verses confirming that the sincere among 'the people of the Book'
have no reason to grieve or fear .. their reward is with G-d.

However, one needs to study Islamic history to see where the Muslim's general suspicion of Jews
arises..
Siege_of_Banu_Qurayza - Wikipedia

"The Siege of Banu Qurayza, also known as the Battle of Banu Qurayza, took place in Dhul Qa‘dah during January of 627 CE (5 AH) and followed on from the Battle of the Trench."

Muhammad put a Jewish convert in charge of their punishment for treason .. and there are
varying opinions of the exact events that took place.

ooh yes, that makes perfect sense for someone in a mutual agreement of defensive maters to be upset when another party does not come to their defense in a time of battle

this is like the example of " WWli " when Italy was in alliance with Germany and made a similar agreement to come to the war with Germany - should Germany attack another country

In 1939, Germany and Italy expanded their cooperation in the Pact of Steel: they promised to help each other if one them went to war with another country. However, Italy changed its mind and just held a neutral stance at the start of the war, but did join the war to assist Germany for a very brief time - in June 1940, after the fall of France when Italy felt it could somehow obtain wealth by the defeat of France.

Later, in 1943, Italy switched sides and declared war on Germany, becoming an ally of the Allies.

I understand the importance of keeping a pact and standing by a friends side - - but this deal, Mohammud had made with the Jews was very unexpected demands, there was not a common history of Jews joining with Canaanite, Persian, Arabian conquests - the Jews had mostly kept to themselves ......

there is so much more to the theology of the Quran, Hadith and even the majority of the Islamic society today that holds the Jews in such a regard, as worthy of undesirable things, and it is all about a spiritual and moral nature - prophecies and revelations of scripture breakdown

not dealing with wartime compacts and alliance issues
not dealing with trading complications and business quarrels

not a problem where the Jews have acquired unpaid debt for the lands they reside on - they have fully paid the Muslim communities and governments many, many times over, in fact the Jews paid 10 times the value of the lands and the Muslims gladly and freely took the money and agreed to sell the lands.

and after the Jews purchased the lands the Jews offered the homeless
Arabian families that came from the purchases to live as neighbors in a peaceful loving and beautiful world as friends next to them and would have worked to build them a wonderful life of freedom, peace and mutual trade.

the war or conflict that Islam itself, from the Quran, Hadith and from Islamic theological critical perspective has a much deeper issue and is not dealing with a simple trading deal or a breaking of a war partnership / alliance - the whole perspective of Islam is one that castigates the Jews as a very, very lowly perspective and makes this known as a tremendous problem with their - " Jews " - - Scriptures - Morality - Obedience to God - Lack of submission to God and even their
lack of right to even exist as a nation in Israel ....

its much more to it than just a simple trading deal gone wrong or a breaking of a war partnership / alliance - - its a moral issue that the Quran does not clarify or explain in any way....

If the Muslims could glean from the Hadith and Quran and put together a new writing for a " new final revelation " in Hadith form, that show a new prophetic or new revelatory explanation that has been missing from the Quran for nearly 1500 years .....

.....this would greatly help the Jews to understand what they could do to amend and repair " the Scriptures " and the " Morality issue " that the Quran and Hadith profess that exist for them and their Bible.

what Hebrew scripture manuscripts could be corrected to amend the great gap between Mohammud and the Jews ?

but in basic core issues and foundational core beliefs - the Scriptures of the Jews are not in disagreement. the Jews did not disagree with Mohammed upon basic principles regarding idols, adultery, murder, theft, the denial of trinity, Sabbath, the oneness of God, the moral obligations of a faith.

it is something Mohammud never explains...... I do not believe Muslims really understand this problem themselves but are left with no revelation nor any prophecy or explanation concerning any of it. this is a big problem
