Most Muslims, I'd imagine, despise them. But I think they have to be called Muslims because they identify themselves as such as believe that they're doing what Islam calls them to do.
But I wouldn't call them good Muslims.
In the end, extremists of those kinds don't succeed. They get too many...
In all fairness, since my question is "How do you define adultery?" he did address it. I don't agree with what he said, but that's what a forum is all about.
btw, I see no fault in married people fantasizing about others. It's only dishonest if you lie to your spouse about it.
A lot of...
How do you define adultery?
To my mind, the traditional Jewish definition is horrifically sexist--to the point of treating women like chattel. A woman commits adultery if she's married and has sex with someone other than her husband. A man commits adultery if he has sex with another man's...
The point I was making was about oral history and myth. Within my adult lifetime, this practise was invented, and there's already controversy over who invented it and why.
And the most-often heard versions are generally the best stories, not necessarily the accurate one.
It wasn't the terseness. It was the fact that you quoted my last post, so I thought you were referring specifically to what I said.
My answer: The children would be human. Muslim would probably consider them Muslim. Jews would definitely consider them Jewish. Bigots would consider them Muslim...
I don't think there is one "Liberal Christian Theology." I've known liberal Christians who believed in Jesus' divinity. And others who didn't.
btw, I'm a Jew who doubts that Moses actually led the Hebrews out of Egypt, and doubts the version in Exodus even more.
I agree completely with your first sentence.
But there are parts of the Bible that literally contradict each other. It begins with two contradictory creation stories.
I should add that I don't consider it a problem. To me, this is proof that the people who compiled Genesis out of other...
A couple of years ago, I saw professional atheist Sam Harris interviewed on TV. He made the grand statement that "All Christians are atheists about the Muslim God." Since one of the tenants of New Atheism is that you should only believe what is clearly proved, I wanted to jump through the TV and...
As Shakespeare said, "The devil can quote scripture to his purpose."
You can find an argument for and against anything in the Bible. There is much in the Bible that is beautiful, spiritual, and provides an excellent framework for a way of life.
But there is also much that contradicts known...
That attitude strikes me as extremely self-centered. "What's important is that I get mine."
To my mind, you have to go back to the golden rule: Treat others as you would want to be treated. (And no, that is not specifically Christian; you'll find it in other traditions.) That covers...
Getting back to the original question, I think a lot would depend on how religious and how open-minded the parents are, and what sort of society the children are raised in.
Ideally, the children would be proud of both heritages, and worship or not worship as they choose.
There's more than one perspective of the Bible. What about the perspective of the Song of Songs?
And not everyone who follows one of the 3 Abrahamic religions feels a need to follow everything in Matthew.

I wouldn't say I agree with everything here, but it's an interesting theory.
Not every tradition. In Judiasm, there's no conflict between spirituality and sexuality. They are both seen as posiitive and joyful parts of a well-rounded life.
I realize that there must be some strong spiritual pull to celebacy--a lot of religions from different cultures feel it. But I don't...
