Creation or Evolution: The Statistics!!!

Bandit, are these example (and others littered throughout the thread) deliberate strawmen created to fudge the issue, or simple misunderstandings?

    Creation or Evolution: The Statistics!!!

Sounds to me like a cheap ad hominem. Can you tell me the difference between a theory and a fact? How about this Bandit, when you answer my questions I'll answer any you might have. Unless, of course, you are uninterested in discussion.

    Creation or Evolution: The Statistics!!!

Really? Fascinating. Where might I read about this? Sacre Bleu! You're pulling my leg. Is it? Can you direct me toward suitable reading material. We have a larger capacity than other apes and so you draw the conclusion we are disimilar? Are chimps not apes on acount of their large testicles...

    Creation or Evolution: The Statistics!!!

Correct. That humans share a common ancestor with todays apes (and infact in an impartial classification system humans would be apes) is highly evidenced, and requires little more than objectivity to grasp.

    Creation or Evolution: The Statistics!!!

Can you provide some reading material that discredits Carbon dating?

    Creation or Evolution: The Statistics!!!

I'm flattered by your willingness to plagiarise my work. Out of curiosity, what evidence is there for your Almighty God? What do your theories (if they can be called anything more than idle conjecture) explain exactly? What a curious statement. Which god are...

    Creation or Evolution: The Statistics!!!

What strikes me as curious is this; evolution, specifically Darwinism, has obiterated all comers since conception and explains an incredible amount of data with minimal entities. Yet creationists attack it like it was pulled from the rear of an orangutang last week, brushed down, and pegged up...

    The Invisible Pink Unicorn

Great link Vajradhara, and amusingly relevant. Sounds strikingly familiar... You've got to love Carl Sagan. I especially enjoyed his Baloney Detection Kit (can be found at http://www.carlsagan.com/ ;)). Here's a link to an IPU (may peace be upon her) (may her hooves never be shod :D)...

    Are atheists shallow?

Evidence supporting a claim is a base requirment for most people I presume. Would you be happy to accept any wierd or wonderful statement on faith? Re purpose: Personally, I do not see purpose in living organisms any more than I see in the rocks and the oceans. Differing degrees of chemical...

juantoo3's comments in 'Proofs for God's Non-Existence' thread

Earl, although I am absolutely fascinated by your definition (and your use of language), I have to ask; is this your description a god or your definition of the concept god. If the latter I presume that withot these attributes (or fails to produce these criteria in us) then a particular...

    Are atheists shallow?

That's a bit worrying. You are well entitled to your opinion and I admire your honesty, but you haven't really made a case. What I understand is, that you think it's difficult to believe in god/s atheists don't believe in...

juantoo3's comments in 'Proofs for God's Non-Existence' thread

Thanks for your respons Juan. I apologise for taking so long to respond. Friends, family, and education (some of this was religious) contributed. The main part is without doubt, for me, evolution. If you like I can expand upon his. Although I'm sure you will have heard much, if not all, of what...

juantoo3's comments in 'Proofs for God's Non-Existence' thread

Firstly, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, if one of the mods could take a peek and move it to the suitable section I would appreciate it. This is a response to juantoo3's post in another thread. Possibly. Personally I don't think the term is any less a human constuct...

    Are atheists shallow?

Hello Postmaster. I'm glad you're interested. :) My own experience with women my age is similar. Though not many of the women I know are professed atheists, just not very religious. You then said this: This strikes me as a non-sequitur...

    Proof for God's Non-Existence

Indeed my best regards to yourself for a provocative and intelligent response. I said: Some people also believe evil to be evidence for the non-existence of the god in the bible. To which you responded: When I stressed some people, I did mean other than myself. I haven't looked into the issue...

    Proof for God's Non-Existence

Good call, Q. What is 'slam dancing'? Hmmm evidence for the non-existence of gods. All of them (gods)? I would only submit the absence of evidence for the positive. Some people also believe evil to be evidence for the non-existence of the god in the bible. Something to think about.

    Proof for God's Non-Existence

I, for one, am readily grateful that you did however. The input that you brought (along with a couple of other posters) has been, to me, both insightful and necessary. Regarding the topic, would anyone object to a little Bertrand Russell quote? :) Many orthodox people speak as though it were...

    The Invisible Pink Unicorn

My apologies to anyone who has heard the preaching of a convert to the cause of the great IPU before. My point; instead of trying to prove that God exists, why not try to disprove the existence of her magnificence (and favourite atheist word-toy;)) the Invisible Pink Unicorn?
