    knowledge and belief

Part seven in the series discusses the meaning of da'at (knowledge) that is quite illuminating.

    knowledge and belief

Yeah, that really struck me as well. Cherubs are only mentioned twice in the entire five books of Moses - once as guarding the "Tree of Life," the other as guarding the Torah. Thank you for looking that up! So "it" or "she" is wisdom (chokmah) personified (the ESV uses "she" as well, btw)...

    knowledge and belief

Just came across a cool idea regarding Adam and Eve and their "state" in the garden. The author (somewhat tongue in cheek) uses Heisenberg's principle as an analogy. The series is linked on my blog.

    The ultimate comparative study?

Hi Operacast, sorry about that. I was adding and deleting links today as I organize my site. In the meantime, here it is: http://www.cutsinger.net/articles.html Another site that has more articles is: http://www.religioperennis.org/ Cutsinger writes somewhat from a Christian perennialist...

Duality/Polarity --> True Principle or Outdated Axiom?

Heh. No doubt. It definitely has it's flaws, but I don't know what I'd do without wikipedia.

Duality/Polarity --> True Principle or Outdated Axiom?

Interesting. I've had just the opposite (no pun intended) experience. I think it would help the discussion if we clarified exactly what Cage means: implied opposites (polarities) or ontological dualism (God/man, body/spirit for example). :) It's confusing that the word 'duality' (and...

Duality/Polarity --> True Principle or Outdated Axiom?

I'm trying to learn not to use the term "dualism" because it usually summons up images of two seperate things in the minds of those who hear it. I do prefer the term "polarity" for that exact reason, because it shows that some ideas (or things) that we think of as "dualities" are actually...

    Postliberal Christianity

Hi Chris. Just a couple of thoughts in response to your post (as Luna pretty much summed up my own thoughts perfectly). :) I don't see a need to put the genie back in the bottle, because imo, it has never gotten out. The more I dig into scripture, the more I'm amazed at the truths to be found...

    Postliberal Christianity

One of the charges leveled against postliberalism by some is that it is "pluralistic." Heh. Can't please everybody eh? I would consider myself to hold to narrative theology. I also think that scripture purports some propositional truths. I believe that the two go together quite well. :)

    Postliberal Christianity

It depends on the person. It varies greatly from leader to leader. But overall, in my experience, many EC thinkers are post-foundational (if not postliberal).

    Postliberal Christianity

Well, in a way, it is orthodoxy. Karl Barth's "neo-orthodoxy" is considered a postliberal theology. Closely related is "post-foundationalism." I like what one site says: Reinhold Niebuhr took a different tack toward a similar end, arguing that fundamentalism was hopelessly wrong because it took...

Tell ya what, I'm ready to remove the small amount of lawn we have left and replace it with sand. Then I can set up an above ground pool and I'll have my own little beach.

    Interfaith as a Faith

You are very welcome Ruby. :) I wasn't an easy sell. I was a pretty adamant person. I didn't want to hear anything I thought was "apostacy." Time and patience and study and meditation won out.

    Interfaith as a Faith

Was it ludicrous and silly for someone to interfaith with me when I was a fundamentalist? I'm not anymore, and that is why. I'd say it's not a lost cause.

    What defines a Christian?

Hey thanks. I get what you're saying now. I was definitely a nominal Christian growing up. I believed that Jesus was God's son and knew that there was something important about him that I was supposed to believe or know, but I didn't know what that was. If anyone asked, I'd say "I'm Christian"...
