InLove-you're great. I just love it when you post on anything (hummm-might have to go to your thread with that one)
Juantoo-bad,bad joke... Stand in the corner and give yourself a good talking to... Still... 'How many Klingons does it take to change a light bulb?'-answers on a post card to;
The...
Do you mean 'made up' in the sense of 'not HISTORICALLY true' and 'all true' as in the 'Spiritual truth' (or whatever) behind the story? (No one critisised Jesus for teaching in parables-made up storys to impart a spiritual or possibly political truth). I know you've probably answered this but I...
Ah, 2001-never watched it stoned (or under the influence of anything stronger than tea) and It's my favourite film. Might come under the remit of this thread as well-as it certainly has more than a hint of spiritual quest about it (esp if you know about A.C.Clarke).
I was always under the impression that the Aztecs pretty much took over the buildings left behind by the Mayans and weren't particularly skilled builders themselves-good enough to repair and maintain but no real actual building skills.
The Mayan's were cleaver, a we bit bloodthirsrty-but nothing on their successors (Aztecs). I even read that they had an Earthquake detector (great big pools of water it staggered layers that covered quite an area) and apparantly using this thing they could detect quakes all over the planet-maybe...
Seems to be a popular choice for discussion- and good practice for good natured debate- so thought I'd start a seperate thread rather than highjacking others.
Which version of Star Trek is your favourite and why?
Mine's the original cast movies, then DS9, Then 'classic' Trek, Next Gen, Voyager...
Are the two mutualy exclusive? I personaly don't think they are. My personal opinion (and I know no scripture to back it up) is that Christ 'opened the door to Heaven (spiritual afterlife version)' via his sacrifice and, along with the terachings of the OT showed us a way to be 'worthy' of...
This might help;
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
In my private life I simple 'judge' people on how they treat me (obviously things like mutual interests, hobbies etc come into play) and how they react to how I treat them-'Do unto others as you would have done unto you'...
That's it-but you forgot Deanna's driving-2nd time a woman gets behind the 'wheel' of the Enterprise, 2nd time it hits something (first time being in Generations- I mean, how could she have missed an entire planet... oh, she didn't) I'm getting out of here before I get mobbed for that.lol
Assuming a non-literal interpritation of the creation/Eden story...
I've often thought it was a metaphore for when humans became concious and 'self aware' rather than a literal 1st man and woman.
Adam (and Eve) would represent the first man or 'tribe' that began the spiritual journey to Judasim...
They married in the movie Nemisis (or as I like to call it-the next gen movie that's not too bad until it trys to be star trek 2)-the marrage in 'all good things' was one of many possible futures (I need to get out more...)
The possible 2007 movie is probably going to be a re-cast of the...
Is 'Holes' the one were they are digging a field of holes? I remember the adverts for it- never got around to watching it tho, do remember it looked interesting- must look it up soon.
Yeah Treks great-love the original, DS9 and next gen(although Enterprise should have been shot at birth...)
