    Is Truth Relative...

as far as understanding the truth behind subjective human beliefs, i think we're facing something that's more or less impossible to untangle from a perspective that's either not human, not objective, or both. i put my faith in what i find works from moment to moment. i put my faith in the...

    Stupid Sayings

yeah, "freedom isn't free" has always bugged me. so what, i have to pay a tax to continue worshipping, thinking, and speaking as i choose? i suppose in the context of miliary spending and the military's definition of "freedom", it sure isn't! "it's adam and eve, not adam and steve" has always...

Is there any religion that does not oppose homosexuality?

julia- i'm sorry this new pope has been less than accpeting of gay folks an dtheir relationships. as Paladin said, Quakers are generally accepting of differences in sexual orientation and gender identity. my own meeting has a number of same-sex couples who attend regularly. some Lutheran...

    Masturbation and God

that's an interesting response, surely. i'm trying to become more accepting of sex as something potentially spiritual, not just as a worldly distraction to be swept away. and really, i think the Rabbi's response was a healthier one for the boy to hear then "shame on you! put those dirty thoughts...

    Gentle Religious Humor

three little kids were sitting around discussing their religions. one kid said, "i'm jewish, and our symbol is the star of david" another said "i'm christian, and our symbol is the cross" the third kid said "well, i'm a unitarian, and our symbol is the coffee pot"

    What am I?

hammer- i'm not too good at labeling other's belief systems... there's an on-line quiz that asks you a number of questions about what you believe and tries to match you up with belief system, but i'm not sure how accurate it is. http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_7665_1.html...

what do you believe about crosses as jewellery?

that's the problem with "wearing" religion- too often these symbols (e.g. the Hindu OM, Native American images, Christian symbols) get commercialized to the point of being fashion statements or cutesy decor. religion should be about the relationship between one's self and the Transcendent...

Do you believe dreams have meanings?

most dreams i have are both nonsensical and meaningful. for example, i'll dream about trying to find my deceased father in a city in new jersey. now, we haven't lived in new jersey for years and i know my father's dead, but having that dream and being somehow in touch with him through it...

    Article on Fundamentalism

very, very well said. there's a radio program around here where the refrain is "reclaiming america for christ". with the xenophobic, homophobic rhetoric that program puts out, one has to wonder when the speakers last opened the bible and read the words of christ.
