    the "dark side" in religions

It's neccessary to plow the chaff under, to feed the earth so it's fertile for the next crop. It's neccessary to empty your hands so they can be filled again. The only evidence of life is growth; growth is always accompanied by discomfort. That's what people call the "dark side" of life -...

Re: No proselytizing! Is it possible? Thank you for the warm welcome and for the good information. I'll confess that at the time I asked about C/P I wasn't thinking of posting anything by anyone but myself (arrogant, eh?). Maybe when I'm all the way grown-up I won't be so enchanted by my own...

    Christians and Magic/Harry Potter

I had to smile when I read this. Kids canot pick up the Craft of the Wise from the HP books, because it's not in the books. They're full of magic the way our inner children would like magic to be - wave a wand, pronounce the words the right way, and ~poof~ you enemy is paralyzed. It doesn't...

Thanks for moving me, Brian, and yes, I can now cut and paste stuff. Wonderful! ************ I had wondered why my posts had "disappeared" from where I posted them - I should have realized that the Forum Gods had intervened. ;)

    Fluffy Bunnies

There's an additional thing going on that adds to the confusion. In most Interfaith groups, witches tend to identify themselves as "Wiccan" because it's not such an emotionally-laden term, and most followers of other religions don't automatically think they know what "Wiccan" means.

    The 'problem' of universalism

There's another mountain metaphor that may shed some light on this (forgive me for being wordy): Recently I was flipping through a back issue of the magazine “Spirituality & Health” and I landed on an article in which there was this story, related by Rabbi Lawrence Kushner: “There’s a very...

    No proselytizing! Is it possible?

Can any kind person here tell this newbie how to cut and paste text from a Word file into the "Reply" box? I tried to that earlier; after I had the text in my clipboard, I right-clicked while I was in the Reply box, but didn't get the "Paste" option.

Re: No proselytizing! Is it possible? And, is there a way to copy and paste in text from an outside source, using word? I tried to copy in an article/essay from a word document, and cannot seem to do it. At least, when I "right click" after copying the text, the "paste" option doesn't come up.

    No proselytizing! Is it possible?

I think the difference is not the above; at least not the difference between proselytizing and not. The difference, I think, lies in how we express our beliefs. For example, "I believe" rather than "this is so"; "my view is" rather than "the TRUTH is", and so on. I've been on a few other BBSs...
