    The OT Prophecies Concerning Jesus

We have someone on the Jewish forum who can deal with the messianic Jews. Jew has two or three definitions. I'm refering only to Jews as believing in the Jewish religion. Someone who is a Jew by birth or culture, can believe in Jesus-Christ, but then he is a Christian as to his religion.

    The OT Prophecies Concerning Jesus

Jews don't accept the OT prophecies as concerning Jesus for different reasons. The OT is their Holy Book and nodody can say they have only second-hand knowledge of it. They have noticed, as independent observers do, that the "prophecies" are often taken out of context, modified, based on...

Can I have evidence/proof of Islams divinity?

Thanks Brian for repeating my deleted post in which I was denouncing pseudo-science in holy books.

Unscientific statements and Selective translations in the Qur'an

Re: Can I have evidence/proof of Islams divinity? PluckyAli The Quran as the Bible is a book of religion not of science. You do not mention the most unscientific statement in the Quran, that God created man from molded clay. Quran 2:23 = Many fake quranic pages have been written. Quran...

    Question Regarding Deuteronomy...

Dauer I just had a discussion about Psalm 22:16, the famous 'kaari raglay veyaday'. I noticed that the ending 'ay' was for a plural+my. As it looks like the ending of Adonay, I think that Adonay doesn't mean 'my Lord' but 'my Lords'.

Why is it written like this?

There's another reason why religious Jews do not pronounce or even do not write the name(s) of God. In many ancient cultures it was believed that if you can name a person you can have a power on him. As it is out of the question that man may have any power on God, so it was forbidden to name God.

    Question Regarding Deuteronomy...

I know a little bit of Hebrew. Adon means Lord, Adoni means my Lord, so why Adonay ? What's the difference between Adoni and Adonay ?

Can I have evidence/proof of Islams divinity?

Turok76 If you want to have opinions about the Quran, ask your question on the comparative religion forum. This Islam forum is not supposed to be polemical.

Has the Qur'an become an idol?

Abdarrahman If the Quran doesn't specifically say what to do and you need the Sunna, then it doesn't cover everything. You'll have to prove that the Sunna is also a revelation from God.

Has the Qur'an become an idol?

Is this an apologetics forum or a discussion forum ? AbdarRahman makes five statements that not everybody agrees with. Are we supposed to ignore them or is it allowed to discuss them ? As a try I'll address two of them : It's not fair to compare the learning by heart of the Quran and the Bible...

    When did Moses live?

Sheba I agree with you that all those stories are based on facts that have been (greatly, I think) exaggerated. Semites have crossed into Egypt for food or work for centuries, and Palestine was often an Egyptian possession. As it is impossible to distinguish between the Hebrews and the...

    When did Moses live?

I believe most of the story of Moses is legendary as the Bible isn't an historical but a religious book. A religious leader named Moses, somewhat connected to Egypt, hence his name, has probably existed, but all the details of his life can't be proven. I've never heard of an Egyptian chronicle...

Abrogation--The Biggest Lie Against The Holy Qur'an?!

I would be pleased that abrogation wouldn't exist in the Quran and that Amica were right. Alas I think she's wrong.

Has the Qur'an become an idol?

Brian, you're tackling a very important theological issue I wouldn't have dared to address on this forum. Is the "heavenly" Quran created by God or is it co-eternal with God ?

Abrogation--The Biggest Lie Against The Holy Qur'an?!

All religions borrow from each other, the Bible included. We can put a name on "one religious tradition of the day", as you say. Do you think Christianity has been unable to advance mankind by itself ?

Abrogation--The Biggest Lie Against The Holy Qur'an?!

The Quran is a compilation of various religious traditions that were around in the Near East in the seventh century. Nobody accuses Muhammad of having made up the Quran. He only put together, in an original manner, Jewish, Christian, Zoroastrian and pagan elements.

The name of God In Judaism

I agree with Faustus as of the modern ways of saying God in Judaism. The pronunciation of the word Yhwh is a problem for scholars. Because of a taboo it got lost. For reading aloud the name was replaced by an equivalent like Elohim. To remind of that the vowels of Elohim were put under Yhwh...
