    Christianity and Judaism

The Jews for Jesus has been one of those groups that really frustrates me when I try to sort out this issue. I really hate the idea of using the word Jewish to hide intentions. I think part of why this issue concerns me, and probably part of why it seems complicated to me, is that racially I...

Logic and Faith: Oil and Water?

The three laws you mention are some of the basic rules of logic, but they are not, nessecarily, natural law. As I said before, there is no way you can show these three laws to be true which does not appeal to logic.

    Ethics of Euthanasia

Not to quibble pointlessly, but in current english usage euthanasia refers to the whole set of circumstances in which a person is killed to end "suffering". It is not restricted specifically to cases in which the subject is unwilling. One can be voluntarily euthanised.

What convinced you to believe the Bible?

I was raised with the Bible, but unfortunately I was raised seeing a lot of people who claimed to live by the Bible and had some very serious flaws of their own creation. I turned towards philosophy and other more "secular" writings in a sort of search for meaning. I maintained an interest in...

    Christianity and Judaism

Perhaps this is a topic already posted somewhere within this thread that I have merely missed, if that is the case my apologies. I have spent the last 10 years or so of my life wrestling with an issue that I believe is central to Christianity. This issue is the, for lack of a better term...

Logic and Faith: Oil and Water?

The experiment you described does nothing to prove logic. In fact, if anything, it undermines logic. The "sighted" children made a non-logical decision based on emotional preference for a sense. Logic would dictate that if you feel someting it is there, despite appearances to the contrary...

    Ethics of Euthanasia

Personally, I couldn't care less if someone chooses to end their own life. While I view it as cowardly to back down from the struggle, I would never ask someone to fight a battle they didn't want. So, as far as suicide, or a person choosing to be "assisted" into death, whatever, not my problem...

    Freedom of will, almost nonexistent?

"If your body wants to eat or drink, you have no choice but to eat or drink." This is patently false as there have been numerous people who have intentionally starved themselves to death. "Also, even if QM is that 'weird' that does not mean that it is practically applicable to our world."...

Logic and Faith: Oil and Water?

I really have trouble with the idea of logic and faith in opposition. Logic exists as a human construct of rules and symbols. There is no objective truth to logic, and even if there is, there is no way to demonstrate without appealing to logic itself. Quite simply, we have no objective basis for...

Logic and Faith: Oil and Water?

Personally, I think that logic and faith have more in common that we are really comfortable believing. We accept the whole world on faith, including logic. I think that faith underpins our entire existence. It is through faith that we believe logic can yield results.
