    Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda

I haven't read his complete works, but I very much enjoyed his 4 books on the different branches of yoga(bhakti, rajas, karma, jnana). But, I'd start with his poem, Song of the Sanyasin: https://www.swamivivekananda.guru/2017/12/31/the-song-of-the-sanyasin/

    Tradition

The way I see it, the word 'tradition' is being used here more as a way for someone to indicate the way they do things, rather than mindlessly following traditions. Sect, sampradaya, denomination all come as similar words and phrases to describe the same thing. Tradition doesn't have to be...

    What's For Dinner?

I think it was, but a very mild version. I still have bubble gut this morning, but I'm doing better than I was.

    What's For Dinner?

Still feeling a bit off... Someone else that ate some said it gave her the same feeling.

    What's For Dinner?

I didn't have anything. My husband brought home three cheese pasta from his job, and it made me feel yucky, so I skipped supper.

    Hindu Gods and Catholic Saints

The Gods are a lot more varied, have very independent existences and stories in comparison to angels. From my polytheistic viewpoint, I sometimes wonder if the angels were a sort of elemental spirit within that culture.

    Hindu Gods and Catholic Saints

Do you find many similarities between Hindu Saints/Gurus and Catholic Saints? I know they're not quite the same, but I'm curious to hear from someone who's been involved with both paths as to if there are any commonalities.

    Hindu Gods and Catholic Saints

I don't see this as much of a similarity between the Saints and the Hindu Gods/Goddesses, but a shared practice. I would wager it goes beyond simply these two faiths as well. Being fairly familiar with NeoPagan practices, it isn't uncommon to specify a chant to a deity or energy for this or...

Vegetarian or Vegan? Religious or health reason?

I don't mind the meat substitutes, and do use them in cooking, but I'm not dependent on them. I toss them in here and there, but its by no means a daily deal. What's a Dorito vegetarian?

    How'd you manage that?

Vegetarian or Vegan? Religious or health reason?

Raw meat makes me nauseous to see... good luck to you.

Vegetarian or Vegan? Religious or health reason?

I never understand when people complain about the price. Vegetarianism is dirt cheap. I can feed a family of 5 for about 60 a week if I so choose. The vegetarian specialty products can be pricy, but specialty products in general are pricy. I do think part of the problem of expense is...

Vegetarian or Vegan? Religious or health reason?

Wasn't me! Actually, it sometimes confuses people that I'm 38 and am an avid cook but have absolutely no idea how to prepare meat.

Vegetarian or Vegan? Religious or health reason?

I went vegetarian at 12. It was strictly ethical; I could no longer bring myself to kill to eat when it wasn't necessary. I'd spent all of childhood sobbing over it. I always faced that I would eat meat, or be punished. After 12, I could handle it anymore, and my parents and I played...

    Interfaith prayer...for all?

I'm so glad you posted that... I used to chant that one with my children before bed awhile back... I don't remember why we stopped. Maybe we'll start again.

    Interfaith prayer...for all?

    I think so.

    Interfaith prayer...for all?

Ah, I'm confused. You say that we can "create a prayer that does not include your God or invoke anyone else's God(esses)" and that would be acceptable to you, but you didn't feel comfortable with the afore mentioned prayer, even though it mentioned no specific deity. What would you suggest?

    Interfaith prayer...for all?

I always preferred group prayers that could be recited by people of different faiths, with each person being able to address it to their own 'image' of divinity.

    @Snoopy and I joke a lot, but he's actually a Zenist, and I'm actually a Polytheistic Hindu. :)
