Hindu Prana, Buddhist Prana, and Taoist Qi the same energy?

Yes, so the "chi" aspect of of the shaolin monks is not buddhist? So is there a mystical force or not?

Hindu Prana, Buddhist Prana, and Taoist Qi the same energy?

I am pretty sure the mystical energy exists in Buddhism, Shaolin Monks (monks of Zen Buddhism I think) use the concept of Chi all the time in their practices, meditation, and martial arts ( can can do pretty amazing things with it!). Though I am not sure whether this is a Taoist influence or...

    Happy Diwali!

Is this mainly an Indian custom or do Hindus worldwide celebrate it? Judging by your post it seems that it should be a custom for Hindus worldwide, but I havn't seen any big celebrations here in Silicon Valley (where as the Chinese new year seems more celebrated).

Why Don't Jews Sacrifice Animals Anymore?

I think it may have to do with the fact that most Jews alive today or pretty liberal and tend not to practice Judaism. It seems only orthodox jews are the only devout jews yet, although I have never heard orthodox jews sacrificing animals. But yea you two have a good point.:)

Why Don't Jews Sacrifice Animals Anymore?

This question has puzzled me a long time. I just don't get why Jews do not sacrifice animals such as rams or goats. In the Torah and Old Testament clearly state that animals must be sacrificed in order for God to forgive the sins of man until the Messiah comes. According to Judaism the Messiah...

Hindu Prana, Buddhist Prana, and Taoist Qi the same energy?

Vajradhara, To my knowledge Shaolin Monks are Buddhist monks and do believe in some kind of force (shaolin monks actually call it Chi). However I'm not sure whether their concept of the mystical force to shaolin monks was an influence of Taoost Chi. Did Buddha ever discuss such an existance? If...

Hindu Prana, Buddhist Prana, and Taoist Qi the same energy?

Who says Buddhist don't believe in a creator? Be careful, don't let Western ignorance make you believe Buddhism is an atheistic religion ;). Buddha never denied the existance of God. Then again he never really talked about it. But to assume he did not believe in God is utter nonsense, Buddha...

Hindu Prana, Buddhist Prana, and Taoist Qi the same energy?

As I explained earlier I don't mind prayer in the Eastern sense (although I disagree praying to a particular deity) but I strongly do not like the Western Blind Faith and "God do this, I worship you" type prayer ;). For spiritual experiance I don't see the problem with it, but I do not think it...

Hindu Prana, Buddhist Prana, and Taoist Qi the same energy?

I am free, I don't dislike prayer I just think it should never be equated to yoga/meditation. I don't mind people pray at all, in fact the more I think about it is okay but prayer should be done with uttermost faith and people cannot expect God to just do whatever they say. It's not that...

Hindu Prana, Buddhist Prana, and Taoist Qi the same energy?

A month ago I would have said prayer is equally as important as yoga or meditation but I cannot anymore. There is nothing wrong with prayer, and I'm not saying it shouldn't be done, but I don't believe it is as effective or as powerful as yoga and meditation. Just look at the difference between...

Hindu Prana, Buddhist Prana, and Taoist Qi the same energy?

I know prayer is in all religions but it doesn't make it necessarily a good thing. Not that it is a bad thing, it is just that it is sort of an illusion. We are in a day and age where do not need an illusion. Now I think prayer could be effective for people to pray to God in private or under...

Is Time Apart Of Physical Reality?

Awaiting The Fifth, that is true what you say. However it is a lot harder to graph time as it is to graph 3D space. On a 3D plane you have the X-axis, the Y-axis, and a Z-axis. The T-axis is a lot harder to see (sort of like spiritual reality), but we can sense it (like physical reality). So it...

Is Time Apart Of Physical Reality?

What do you think? Physical reality is usually defined as matter or observable physical material (or anything that takes up place). However recreantly physics as shown us that time and space are very much linked and that they have natural relationship. Einstein proposed time as 4 dimension of...

Hindu Prana, Buddhist Prana, and Taoist Qi the same energy?

I agree mostly, especially on your analogy of God being some dude with a white beard who sits in heaven throwing people into hell and pushing people into heaven is a very big odity to a freethinker. God for one is not a person or an object, but and idea or philosophy. Humans ever since we gained...

Hindu Prana, Buddhist Prana, and Taoist Qi the same energy?

I've always wondered that, because I used to read bout other forms of practice such as tantras and vedenta;). So if you practice Yoga you basicly practicing all the mind exercises to find God known in Hinduism, right? And if I'm correct Buddhist follow basiclly the same exact meditation...

Hindu Prana, Buddhist Prana, and Taoist Qi the same energy?

Yes, there are many Star Wars parallels :). George Lucas was a big fan of Eastern Philosophu and religion, and it isn't hard to see why. While Abrahamic Religions teach primitive superstitious ways to reach God Eastern religions such as Hinduism have a far more complex but effective but at least...

Hindu Prana, Buddhist Prana, and Taoist Qi the same energy?

I'm sure all energies are the same at the fundemental level, but what about if we go deeper? Can Hindus Brahmins harness the energy as well as Shaolin Monks could? Shaolin Monks have been able to do many amazing things with the meditation and harnessment of the Qi and unwind many parts of the...

Hindu Prana, Buddhist Prana, and Taoist Qi the same energy?

Are the concepts of the universal "life force" or "spiritual energy" that is part of everything that exists the same in Hinduism (prana), Buddhism (I think also prana) and Taoism (qi, chi or ki)? If not what are the differences between these mystical energy according to each religion?

    Brahman And The Oversoul

But when you die and are in the afterlife won't you know about your past lives and remember? And do you really loose your personality and stuff:(? Oh damn I really don't want to loose my state of mind to something random and never remember it again. Then again there is a possibility I said the...
