My goal was to buy nothing, so I used what I had on hand.
Dough made from scratch, sour cream for sauce. I used shredded Colby Jack, toppings were a layer of thinly sliced(and cooked) potatoes, sauerkraut, scallions, a bit more cheese. It went well.
I assure you there's nothing more casual than dining at my house...
I have a friend that I told to help herself to a piece of cake, but I had to go deal with one of the kids. I came back and she was eating it with her hands.
I guess in my case, it was what one parent believed. My mom was pretty open minded. Dad wasn't. (He's since become much more tolerant.)
Why do you think that few Muslims and Catholics walk away from the religion they were raised in? I hear similar statistics regarding Hindus.
I ended up pretty far from the religion that was in my childhood household.
I think that its often the case, that people maintain a belief they were raised with, but there are many, many exceptions to this.
