    In Buddhism, knowledge AND ignorance/misknowledge exist when awareness exists.

    Here's what I actually said: "Assuming that there is a creator god, I think suffering is unnecessary and evil." So if there is no creator god, as in Buddhism, then suffering can be logically explained, and the adjectives of "unnecessary" and "evil" will no longer apply.

    If one assumes that there is a creator god, then the buck stops not with us but with god, since by definition, he is the first cause of everything. And of course, suffering cannot be excluded as many are inclined to do in defence of their concept of a creator god. The rest tries to justify...

    I don't know Brian, but God as Love will seem far from reality if I were a Cambodian in S-21 Camp, a Jew in Auschwitz Concentration Camp, etc. or a chook in a modern farm being bred for human consumption, etc. Seeing the daily sufferings of so many in this world, God as Love is a concept that is...

    UNNECESSARY God is a convenient tool to fill up the gaps in man's knowledge. God is a crutch that man created so that he could avoid standing on his own two feet. Unfortunately, God can also be a tool for man to control man.

    Unique teachings in Buddhism

    Previously, having read up somewhat on Hinduism it was difficult for me to see main differences. However, after reading the article whose link I've provided here, I begin to understand why I had the difficulty. If the article is correct, then modern Hinduism borrowed heavily from Buddhism.

    * ENLIGHTENED *.....by.....* SCIENCE *

    Dogma or dogmatic is a strange word to apply to science. All theories in science have assumptions. These are necessary for a particular theory to work. If another theory comes along and proved that an assumption is wrong, inaccurate or can be dropped, scientists will readily accept that...

    Here's the Buddhist's approach: Kalama Sutta: To the Kalamas The translator's note summarised it nicely: "Although this discourse is often cited as the Buddha's carte blanche for following one's own sense of right and wrong, it actually says something much more rigorous than that. Traditions...

    * ENLIGHTENED *.....by.....* SCIENCE *

    Most people would tend to try and fill the gap of the unknown with God. But that gap has been narrowing over time with the progress of science (Stephen Hawking comes to mind here).

    See Model describes universe with no big bang, no beginning, and no end Perhaps there are some unchanging rules out there, but the rules that science comes up are constantly questioned and do change with new evidences.

    Questions?

    From a Buddhist perspective: Definitely. In Buddhism questioning is encouraged. If it is effective in leading to the goal of liberation and enlightenment. No such concept in Buddhism.

    Dream Yoga

    I did not want to use the word "mind" because in the context, I think it can be controversial and very likely misleading. I think state is a neutral word and is therefore appropriate. As for the correspondence between "clear light" and "dharmakaya", I can only say that they are neither the...

    Dream Yoga

    There is a state call clear light. The most important part is recognising this state. The recognition of this state is what will free the person from ignorance, which in the Buddhist context is defined as a mind of non-recognition of reality as it is.

    Conclusion: Truth Has Come, and Falsehood Has Vanished

    future hope, I know you are sincere in your beliefs, but it should be tempered with some wisdom. I think Winston Churchill once said something like this: "Better to let others think you are ignorant for five minutes than to open your mouth and remove all doubt forever."
