    A Parent's Nightmare!

You liked that video? This one is better, and perhaps more realistic. You can see how it just sort of flows along, like some river.

    A Parent's Nightmare!

Cattle definitely have the right of way. One of the problems with the new infrastructure (four lane highways) is that they don't put up barriers and underpasses for animals. Rebuilding India will take some time and patience. In the old cities there is little you can do, but in outside areas you can.

    A Parent's Nightmare!

You probably could, but it would be very stupid of anyone. Some young and proud men think they can ... you know, the types that can do anything ... but once they get to an airport or on a road, that idea vanishes pretty fast. I've driven professionally here, and I would NEVER attempt it.

    A Parent's Nightmare!

All of the above and more. My driver in Delhi had driven professionally for 35 years, and never had a single fender bender. The professional drivers are incredibly good at it. But there are accidents. It helps to know the informal rules. As a pedestrian crossing a busy street, it can be really...

    Self-Forgiveness

Just what does the phrase 'against my better judgement' mean? Methinks it means you knew better but went ahead anyway. The decision was based on emotional/instinctive areas of the mind, not on spiritual or conscience levels. So at that moment instinctive desire just took over. So there were...

    A Parent's Nightmare!

The roundabout problem must be common, because that was my biggest problem in Mauritius too. Nothing anywhere compares to India. Very few locals drive, and foreigners can't rent a car without a driver.

    Who's Sin is it Anyway?

Just glad I don't believe in sin, it makes for less thinking.

    Self-Forgiveness

Certainly differing world views make it so some have to deal with more guilt than others. I view it as each experience being a lesson, and that all people make mistakes. I'll self-talk, and say, "Look, I've erred, and I'm not going to repeat the same error again."

    Skipped Heart Beats

Sad that you feel that way. Let me describe two friends I have/had. One gave up on it about 5 years ago. He has been bed ridden, whining and complaining to his poor wife. His kids don't visit much. I won't visit. He'll spend a few more years in the drudgery of waiting to die. He's not actually...

    A Parent's Nightmare!

My 3 brothers and I grew up very rural, so tractors, swathers, grain trucks, etc. were started around age 13. My favorite memory was Father telling us to go to the frozen lake (one year when it froze hard before it snowed) to practice and get the feel for driving on ice without having other cars...

    A Parent's Nightmare!

Buy him a motorcycle as a present ... you know, the rocket kind.

    A Thought Provoking Question...

Until reading this thread, I didn't know some people COULDN'T do that. That's what makes dreams fun. You're the director and actor at the same time.

    A Thought Provoking Question...

The mystical stuff that very young children say is generally a 'telling' not an asking. "I came from a tree." My grandma wore a red dress." "I miss my friend Roger." That sort of thing ... out of the blue stuff, to the non-mystically inclined adult. but perfectly normal to them.

    A Thought Provoking Question...

In Hinduism, it would be considered remnants of the last lifetime, or former lifetimes. The soul has yet to build its new physical body, its new subconscious, its new ego, its new personality. As all these things develop, the old is slowly forgotten about. The soul naturally just wants one of...

    A Thought Provoking Question...

Total strangers in dreams could be another matter. You didn't say if 'the people' were people he knew or not. Strangers can be composite characters, like in fiction, or fantasy characters like in fiction. So it could be two real people rolled into one. But they can also be inner beings. There...

    A Thought Provoking Question...

My answer is no too. It's the individual's subconscious, and the impressions within it of other people.

    Tolerance

That's the paradigm problem in another thread. There are no words in English that adequately convey Sanskrit, so we have to use Sanskrit.

    Tolerance

Yes I agree, Thomas. Excellent points. I just assumed that that would be the first place to look ... at one's own tradition closely. And yes, people do go looking for a more lenient option when they encounter orthodoxy, or anything that they can't live up to, or don't want to. In my...

Thanks, DA, and Thomas. I shall stick with my gut, but occasionally it's nice to hear you're not the only one.
