    The "Dreamtime" in a Nutshell

Fair enough. Everyone has the right to perceive others in whatever way they wish. But some days it's tough to let comments go through one ear and out the other, whether it be accents, clothes, customs, food, religious rites, or anything else. In this particular one, the Europeans have always...

    The "Dreamtime" in a Nutshell

I think coming of age ceremonies are common in a lot of religions. It involves greater responsibilities in tribal cultures, and much more. As such, it is great cause for celebration. We Hindus, in private home ceremony, celebrate this one with the first sari, and in many communities it may be a...

It happens. Part of life. Going slower makes one more reflective. I used to get a couple loads (12 cubic metres) of topsoil and then wheel it all about the property. It was quite enjoyable. But heck, now it's half a wheelbarrow full, and about 6 per day. Jackhammering or wheeling concrete was a...

    Fine Motor Skills....

Yay, gardening talk. I'm the main volunteer landscaper at out temple. I used to do a 20m by 20m veggie garden plot and give it all away to devotees, the food bank, and to use for Sunday lunch. (It's becoming a parking lot starting tomorrow.) I grew all the regular stuff that we can actually grow...

    Fine Motor Skills....

To be honest, I'm not up on the very latest in Lasik surgery, but I do know there have been advancements in eligibility too. I wasn't eligible 25 years ago when I last checked, but today might be different, not that I intend to find out.

    Explanation of paradigm differences

Thomas, just where would you want your path to be taking you? DA, is there an implicit assumption in your 'taking the path' that they all lead to the same place?

I paid $75 for my first calculator, and it didn't do much. You may be right, but the price of laser surgery is coming down. At what rate that will continue is anyone's guess. My current prescription lenses cost about $700, and laser would be about $3000 for me. So it would break even in...

In less than 20 years, glasses will be obsolete. Laser surgery is changing that fast.

I have no idea. Sounds like a great potluck to me. We always had more than a fair share of veggie food at my staff meetings, mostly due to the one vegetarian on staff. But I wouldn't ever want to talk about it ALL the time, and I could care less if meat is present ... even all meat would be...

    Fine Motor Skills....

Has there been any great research to show that children have actually lost fine motor skills, or is it still conjecture at this point? Watching my 5 year old granddaughter on her tablet, it seems to me her dexterity is far greater than mine was at that age.

The United Church of Canada was probably one of the first of it's kind ... originally a compromise to save space. and particularly logical during pioneer days.

    Explanation of paradigm differences

In a thread about paradigm differences, it is absolutely logical that I have no idea whatsoever what you two are talking about. The reason ... paradigm differences.

Thanks for the report. Yes, regarding diversity, that's most likely quite likely. I've never been to a service, but I got reports from my daughter who figured it might be for her, as a non-practising Hindu. She attended a potluck, got drilled on her vegetarianism, so never went back. It's...

How about stories of coming from other planets, or from the sky, in different lighter bodies than these dense ones?

Never understood the yelling, but only encountered it while flipping channels, and at a couple of funerals. Now that was some sad stuff. (double meaning intended)

my 'baggage' with Sunday School and Preachers...

I was sent off to Vacation Bible school once, at age 6, I think, mostly to appeased some older cousins, who were teaching it. I made such a fuss about going on the second day, after the negative stuff on the first day, my mother relented and let me stay home. I think Dad was feeding me his...
