Scholarly discussion about changes in biblical texts

Along with a bunch of gnostic texts. A library one was nearby so the assumption is that these texts were intentionally discarded due to being declared heretic. Let me explain my purpose here because you don't seem to understand. I barely have any free time. My newborn is 2 weeks old so I...

Scholarly discussion about changes in biblical texts

Nothing suspicious about it. Nobody brought up this fact so I just threw it out there. I didn't realize it was something that was so controversial.

Scholarly discussion about changes in biblical texts

I'm being hostile? I was thinking that about you. I stated a fact. Just a fact. No essay. Just a fact. Them facts sure are hostile to you.

Scholarly discussion about changes in biblical texts

Apples and oranges. I'm not talking about pottery, which is the gold standard for archeology. I'm talking about important documents that were considered holy. I have spoken directly with professors in college on this very same subject and my point was one they often brought up. I checked...

Scholarly discussion about changes in biblical texts

Just pointing out the fact. If it were sacred, I'd wonder why it was in the trash. It's not like they had copy machines back then. Copies of books, especially scripture, were highly coveted. It doesn't mean it was truly fake, but it is one of many arrows pointing in that direction.

Scholarly discussion about changes in biblical texts

I'm just going to point out that the Gospel of Thomas was first found in the trash. Someone literally tossed it in the trash and we found it over a thousand years later. Must not have thought it was too important or that it was even legitimate.

Encounters with different beliefs when you were a kid

I think I told this story here before. But anyway, I was invited to a Methodist Bible study by a friend in college. I went because we were close friends and I knew her church was very important to her. I figured I'd accompany her just to be nice. I eventually got into a debate with the woman...

Encounters with different beliefs when you were a kid

I had someone become VERY upset when I questioned the story of Noah's Ark. I wasn't even being skeptical. I just wanted insight on how it would have happened. With all the varied species around the world, I was confused on how they all made it to that boat. Did the kangaroos ride a whale to...

Technology to empower those with disabilities

With all of the technology we are creating, I hope that some day my daughter will somehow be able to walk. We're getting there. I just hope I'm alive to see it.

Encounters with different beliefs when you were a kid

Raised in a Catholic family. Most of my aunts and uncles are named Mary, Josephine, Joseph, John, etc. I started reading the Bible at age 5 but nobody did a good job explaining my questions about the Bible. So I eventually became a skeptic and atheist. But I still had a fascination with the...

    Covid Origins

Yep. He doesn't tell people to drink or inject bleach. If you saw the entire speech, which I watched live, a medical professional stated his plan for the "sanitizing solution" and then Trump repeated it. Trump even looks back at him during his speech because Trump seems confused by it as well...

There is zero evidence that the virus has natural origins. Zero.

    Covid Origins

The Lancet Microbe editorial was written by scientists who were associated with or who worked for EcoHealth Alliance. They were the ones who were behind the lab leak in the first place. Biden punished them soon after for their actions by removing all funding from them. Trusting the August...

    Covid Origins

No he didn't. I watched the press conference myself. But if you can provide a video where he states that we should drink bleach, go for it.

    Ignoring Vaccines

I was just responding to passive aggressive moral superiority. But your point is definitely fair. As was mine.

An unfair fight - Atheists vs Believers

I think that nowadays the worst possible thing that could happen to a person is that their ego would get bruised. Imagine a person who lights 50 candles every day in their house. They are warned that their house might burn down. Their stubborn and keep saying it will never happen. Their...

Some concerning trends in our world regarding religious freedom

That isn't what happened here, but ok. These were people who became part of a church but missed a church they used to be part of. Instead of doing the logical thing and leaving this church and returning to their old one, they decided to try to change this church into their old one. I've seen...
