    Fools

Well, this has been a very strange experience. I made an observation about somebody who may well (hopefully) come back and reply. It then seems to have turned rather nasty. I came back in a conciliatory manner and explained my reasoning but that has not really cleared the air. No @RJM you did...

    Fools

It seems that I have offended you @RJM and for that, I am truly sorry. It was not my intention to upset anybody and that includes @Thinking required, who actually I quite like and hope returns. If I wish to offend or get into a fight, "attention Seeker" is not a term that I would consider using...

    Our image of God

I call myself an agnostic. What this means is that often I feel that there is something else, something there. Just as often I feel that there is nothing. I must stress that I feel, there is no intellectualizing involved. Sometimes the feeling is stronger, god seems more like an event than a...

Much more attention grabbing this way.

    Fools

I have not followed the posts by @Thinking required much, we do not seem to share the same interests. But over my years of using forums, I feel that I have learned to recognize his style. He is clearly an intelligent individual who has put in his study time. Importantly, I believe, he is proud...

    Pride

I wondered about this too. Our use of English is perhaps a part of the problem. I read pride as self-respect but I now see that you are referring to something further up the scale of egotism. "People pleasing" is not quite the nice activity that it may seem, either. I have known two such...

    Message of Sikhism...

Yes, indeed, often more than a little. IMO, becoming cleaner or at least avoiding the filth is surely the journey.

Well, I am glad that I am not alone in that department.

    Is this not a contradiction?

    The self

I would enjoy taking part but am about to go away for about 10 days. No internet where i'm going. I hope there is a good response @wil, it is a great idea for a post.

    Wild speculation

Quite possibly, and possibly I was obsessed with giving my girlfriend freedom. You will never know. So please don't jump at the obvious. As I said, it is a path not an event, just go as far as you can. If you don't like it, the opposite is a path too. One where obsession is a milestone on the...

    What are modern religions?

That is an interesting point. I love looking at timelines. I saw one once, I think it was of new-age ideas. It finished with new-age, and hippies were the previous stage. It went back to the Victorian period. Crowley was on it and clearly seen as a contibutor of note. William Morris and Madam...

    Wild speculation

It can be tricky, I don't deny that. I once had a friend, Paul. We both had girlfriends that we loved. I liked to see mine laughing with people, dancing, the normal pursuits of young couples. Paul was a control freak, he also watched his girlfriend, like a hawk. He never got pleasure from what...

    Wild speculation

Far from it. Buddhist non-attachment is the obvious one but, it is an important concept in Jainism too. There is aparigraha in yoga, and the Tao Te Ching refers to attachment as a cause of suffering. Modern western nature based faiths often emphasise the seasons, and frequently ancestors are...

    What are modern religions?

I never took to Crowley but I was always interested in how often somebody would say they were an admirer. They cropped up in all shapes and sizes.

    What are modern religions?

Attract is far too strong a term. I must stress that my research was minimal. A couple of Satanic websites that I checked out were very colourful and theatrical in a rather tacky way. They were both dependent on loud heavy metal as well. Nothing caught my eye or showed promise. Overall my...

    What are modern religions?

I think Luciferianism deserves a mention. I have seen various statements that stress that Lucifer and Satan are not the same, and neither are faiths based on them. I did some reading years ago and felt that the Lucifer crowd were the more convincing of the two.

    Can you relate?

Yes, I think some sort of balance will be restored. For me, one of the most frightening things about cancelling and blocking, is the setting of precedents. When you start this particular ball rolling, where will it stop.

    Can you relate?

You raise a very interesting point. I have never been a conservative, and generally have supported what might be called progressive elements. However I find myself very sympathetic to Churchill's statement. I was always uncomfortable with the unquestioning as opposed to qualified support that...

    What are modern religions?

Has anybody mentioned Satanism yet? I believe there are several different variations. I read Anton LaVey's book many years ago. Despite my youth, I found it unimpressive in the extreme.
