Mmm, I do see your point. I just am always wary about pushing for women to have more roles in the hierarchy. That's one thing that worries me about the synod lol. Most religions have specifically gendered roles and I for one never lamented the fact that I couldn't be a deacon, much less a priest...
Women religious are very different than priests and bishops though. I know cardinals technically don't need to be priests, but they almost always are bishops, which makes sense imo.
I get what you're saying. It's hard because again I think Francis is a wonderfully empathetic man, who clearly deeply loves God and his fellow man. But I don't want the Catholic Church to end up being a "Church of Nice" like I see so many other churches have become. I see so many bishops pushing...
I've been following this. A lot of lay Catholics are worried. Pope Francis gave me such anxiety when I believed in the Church. I agree with what people say, that he has a good heart, especially for the disadvantaged, but he is so vague on important topics. Hopefully this synod doesn't cause even...
As I said previously, I'm not trying to prove your faith wrong. I don't believe in Baha'i, but obviously I have no problem with anyone else believing in it. I just don't understand why you want to post on an interfaith forum, when you don't actually have a desire to engage in interfaith discussion.
Lol, I know that well! I can't really judge, sadly I wouldn't have even participated in interfaith discussion back in my Christian convert days. I would've thought it was sinful.
Again, the issue for me isn't that you're Baha'i and believe your religion is the correct one, but that you don't show interest in other people's religions, and only seem to be interested in sharing Baha'u'llah's message.
And Baha'i is not? How are the major world religions set in their ways, any more than Baha'i is? What does it mean to be set in their ways- that they accept their religion as true and definitive? Baha'i does the same.
This is kind of the vibe I get too. I understand that Baha'i places a strong emphasis on missionary work/evangelization, but its uncomfortable when every conversation gets steered back to Baha'u'llah's message.
I always find this an interesting question. Asking if we would be better off without religion is like asking if we would be better off without culture. It’s simply a fundamental and unavoidable part of human nature. Plus, religion, like culture, isn’t a monolith.
I had no idea where Reiki came from until now! I find often when you trace back the origins of popular 'exotic' spiritual practices in the West, you end up disappointed, because the way people practice it here is often stripped of its original context and intentions.
Ugh, yes. I see so many...
So sorry that happened to you :( especially considering why you were attending the march. That's the kind of public 'evangelization' that I hate. It's like the Westboro Baptist Church marches.
