What does it mean if I was born with the same big toes as Adam as depicted in the Sistine Chapel?

Hi there. Have you talked about these voices with anyone in your life? Family, friends?

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix 2

I mentioned this in the other thread, but the 19th century (the 18th century as well, actually) was an absolute hotbed of prophecy. You have Baha'i, but you also have Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, Joanna Southcott, Ahmadiyya, Cyrus Teed, etc. I could go on and on. I can't really comment on the...

    Absolute Truth

There's a difference between spiritually forgiving someone of everything and letting someone get away with doing bad things with no consequences. I believe in prison reform, but I'm not suggesting letting dangerous people roam the streets. If I can share a personal example, I was abused by a man...

    Absolute Truth

Well, he’s talking about the Lord’s Prayer, so yeah as an atheist you probably won’t find much you agree with in it lol.

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

I'm a bit obsessed with 19th century religion haha, so I know a few of the less 'mainstream' prophets of that century. Joanna Southcott is another fascinating example; I encourage anyone with an interest in the subject to read about her. She still has followers.

    Absolute Truth

To err is human, to forgive divine :) Although I do believe we are all inherently good.

    Absolute Truth

Sorry, I think I didn’t express myself well; by radical forgiveness in that comment, I meant the concept that every sin can be forgiven, no matter how terrible. As to universalism, I like what I know of David Bentley Hart. I believed in hell when I believed in Catholicism, but I was very very...

    Absolute Truth

I’m actually no longer interested in Christianity! I definitely am still actively seeking a belief system to be a part of, but me and Christianity have split our ways haha. I do 100% agree with universalism though. I don’t believe in hell anymore.

    Absolute Truth

No, I definitely don’t think radical forgiveness is limited to Catholicism. Nor do I think the Church or Christianity in general has always lived up to that ideal. But it wasn’t a concept I had ever really encountered before converting, having grown up in a very secular environment.

    Absolute Truth

This is one aspect of Catholicism I found very attractive. The idea of radical forgiveness.

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

Thank you for the list! The 19th century in particular seems to be an extremely fruitful century for prophet/messiah claimants. Joseph Smith, Baha'u'llah, Nakayama Miki, Hong Xiuquan, etc., etc. I find the Ahmadiyya particularly interesting; they seem to be quite active in my city, actually...

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

I have always wondered about the interaction between Ahmadiyya and Baha’i, considering their founders lived roughly contemporary to each other.

    Video Essay on Mormonism

I just finished his video, I'll for sure have to watch the couple's video you linked next. I really liked what he said at the end, about his conflicting feelings towards Mormonism. I think most people who have left a religion can relate in some way- I know I can. It's a strange blend of...

    Video Essay on Mormonism

I actually haven't watched this video of his, I'll have to do so now! I think Mormonism is so fascinating. It has its own subculture that is so unique and so rooted in Americana. I can't think of many religions that started in North America that have become so successful. It's very interesting...

    Video Essay on Mormonism

I have an academic interest in Mormonism (and Jehovah's Witnesses and other American-born religious movements). This mini documentary is excellent imo, even if the title is a bit clickbaity.

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

It's not beating around the bush to not constantly be trying to convert people. You can still be upfront about your beliefs without pushing them. Is that the reason you're on Interfaith? Just to share Baha'u'llah's message? Or do you genuinely like interfaith discussion? I'm not asking that in a...

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

What do you mean? Just because they don't want to convert doesn't mean they haven't taken the time to listen and consider it. People might just come to different conclusions than you.

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

I think this is the issue. The issue is not that you have your own beliefs and are unwilling to change them, but that you don't seem willing to accept other people having a different view. If you made posts being like "Here is what we believe in Baha'i, what do you think?" or "Here's what we...

The Mystery of God’s Will Unfolding in this Matrix

I completely agree. I really do think he's a nice guy, I just get so frustrated with his responses; they come across so vague, and the only message I get from them is an attempt to proselytize :(
