    One God, Many Paths

From Hinduism, from 'Dharma', the rock-base of Hinduism. It is so in other Indian religions too. I term 'Dharma' (duty) as the Least Common Factor of multi-faceted Indian religions. Transgress your duty and you are against all Indian religions. :D My duty is what my elders, my society and my...

    One God, Many Paths

For many Hindus, the many Gods they worship are him only. They are not ascribing partners. They are just worshiping different forms as suited to their individual psyche. A famous example of that is when Saint Tulsi Das visited a Krishna temple. Now, Tulsi Das was a Rama Devotee, so he said...

    One God, Many Paths

I do not stray from the path of righteousness otherwise also.

    One God, Many Paths

That itself is enough knowledge (not taking of material world here). :D

    One God, Many Paths

If the many are God only, then what is the harm in worshiping idols? One is worshiping God only. God (if you believe so) is not a dictator. He does not need authority and does never loose what he has. Qur'an says 'Allah knows all', then what is the need to worship him. We should just do our duty.

Do we choose what we believe?

They do not need to understand. Just need to live life as it comes to them. :D

Hindus too are 'ahl-e-kitab', muhammad_isa. Messengers came to us too 3,000 years ago and kept coming later also. Half the Hindus will agree that God is one. Even RigVeda says that: "eka evāgnir bahudhā samiddha ekaḥ sūryo viśvam anu prabhūtaḥ; ekaivoṣāḥ sarvam idaṃ vi bhāty ekaṃ vā idaṃ vi...

    One God, Many Paths

Interesting interpretation, though just like other theisms, it does not suit an atheist like me.

That depends on your interpretation. "And God saith, `Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness .." Genesis 1.26 (Young's literal translation). And Torah is your oldest book. God would not have used plural, if he was one. Trinity does not separate the three, he is still one.

Do we choose what we believe?

They may or they may not. They could even be intentionally deceiving us for their own benefit. Brain is capable of doing that. Better to use your brain than a 1,500 year old book.

It has. There is no greater error than belief in God, soul and prophets/son/1=3/messenger/manifestations/mahdis.

Yeah, what I believe is open to correction (if there be a need, but nothing like that in the last 35 years).

Do we choose what we believe?

When I was younger, it was fashionable. Now I understand better. I must have smoked a Merc during the 67 years. :)

Belief - what science says, and no God.

    Religion as Self Fulfilling Prophecy

I have no such platonic ambitions. I would let the world be like it is.

Do we choose what we believe?

I am one of such smokers. Not good to smoke, but I am addicted. Same is for religion. One may doubt existence or God, but still would not deny religion. My grandpa was of that type - 'I am too old to change my beliefs now'.

    Ethics in a pluralist society

Indian Constitution and Courts reject laws where men, women and differently inclined do not have the same rights. Most problem is with Muslim personal laws (Sharia), about multiple marriages, age at marriage, divorce, custody of children, inheritance and maintenance after divorce. This is going...

Is the soul real? A Neurosurgeon explores the evidence

What you or Egnor say does not appeal to atheists at all. I have no mystery in my life. Every thing is crystal clear.

    Ethics in a pluralist society

Indian Constitution wants same law for all people and the Indian Supreme Court strongly endorses it. So, we are going to bring a "Uniform Civil Code" (UCC) applicable to all people irrespective of religion and gender (male, female or differently inclined). As for practicing their religion, that...
