what is the opinion of these two sites

Mark, I agree that context is everything. What is the tie-in between this and the next quote? The first paragraph establishes the legitimacy of one's debts to government, individuals, and society. Paul says to settle all your debts. Why? Because the end is near. And should anyone think...

    the ‘no-god’ delusion.

Thanks! I'm using a 22" monitor with really high resolution. I love it, but it makes text really small. I'll get back to you on this.

How about this: Don't piss off the authorities by insisting on following the arcane letter of the ceremonial law, because in reality the point of the law is to love your neighbor. But again, Paul is saying that the specificities of the commandments are encompassed, or more briefly comprehended...

Hey Z, could you use a bigger font? I'm straining to read the itty bitty print.

what is the opinion of these two sites

Two things: The Law, and the Commandments. Paul adresses both and ties them together. Is it also your contention that Paul is referring to the commandments of man, whatever that might be? I mean, the four prohibitions he mentions come straight out of the Ten Commandments.

You're being obtuse Mark. Apply Occam's razor. What is the simplest explanation?

what is the opinion of these two sites

Loving one's neighbor as oneself is a very difficult thing to do. It doesn't surprise me that most Christians would want to crawl back into the letter of the law, that's a lot easier than doing what Jesus said.

The key word is fulfil. The law is not destroyed, it is fulfilled. This is why Paul says that Love is the fulfillment of the law. Look at where the text you quoted is. It immediately follows this:

what is the opinion of these two sites

Take a look at this quote. Do you see anything about the Sabbath? Paul mentions four prohibitions: adultery, murder, theft, and covetiousness, and then says that any other commandments that there may be are as well summed in the concept of loving one's neighbor as oneself. Emphasis is placed...

    Religion and Birth Control

Isn't there a practical aspect to the Church wanting to have as many members as possible? The more Catholics the more political clout for the Church. Conversions are one way to grow the membership, but growing your own is a far more stable approach, isn't it?

Haven't the commandments been supplanted by the law of love according to Jesus?

I think you're going to hell too, Shadow. You've obviously sold your soul to Satan, so abandon all hope and prepare to fry. Or, alternatively, you're schizophrenic and need to have your meds adjusted.

    the ‘no-god’ delusion.

That's true, and I do understand what you're saying. But if we are going to consider what the "being" is of itself outside the physical realm, then we can't use language or descriptors which apply to the world of "things." So right there we have to abandon the idea of particular, individual...

    Please Explain Being Pagan...

Oh, I don't know about the comparison thing. I have friends who are Pagan, and then I have friends with a theosophical bent, and ones who are just kind of new age-ish. But I also have friends who are involved in the Society for the Creative Anachronism. They like to dress up like medieval...
