    Saint George

I never heard that saint George is mentioned in the Quran.

How can Muslims be assured that the Qur'an is the Word of God?

Zaakir All Muslims know the verse where Allah tells to beat women who misbehave, at least from the many controversies that the verse has aroused right from the time of its revelation.

How can Muslims be assured that the Qur'an is the Word of God?

Zaakir You are not the only one who can read the Quran. If the Quran forbids wife beating why does it say "waDribuuhunna" "and beat them"? Are you trying to convince us that the Quran is contradicting itself? In which verse does the Quran forbid wife beating?

Do we (Muslims, Christians and Jews) believe in the same God or not?

I agree with The Lord although to me the Jewish and Muslim conceptions of God are rather close.

How can Muslims be assured that the Qur'an is the Word of God?

Zaakir Do you believe or not what is written in the Quran? Sometimes one has the feeling that Muslims themselves do not accept what God has written in it. "waDribûhunna" "beat them" has been written by none other than God himself (that's what Muslims say), and as he knows Arabic better than...

How can Muslims be assured that the Qur'an is the Word of God?

I think that the biggest mistake that Muslim theologians did was to state that the Quran is the very word of God to the last comma. The many controversial verses that reflect a seventh century society, and have nothing to do with an eternal all-loving God who reveals an eternal message, could...

    I dont get it....

Zaakir Have you never heard that God has only to say "Be!" and it is? Nothing is impossible to God, and sometimes what God does is incomprehensible to man.

    I dont get it....

Cyberpi John 14:16 says "allon paraklêton dôsei humin". "He (=God the Father) will give you another helper" besides Jesus. That helper to replace Jesus gone up to heaven is in the following verse 17 "to Pneuma tês alêtheias", the Spirit of truth. Who tells you about "multiple" Holy Spirits?

    I dont get it....

Admiral Hang Tuah Why do you discuss the Gospel of John and on the other hand you believe as a Muslim that the Gospels are corrupted? Leave it up to the Christians to decide who the Paraclete is. His identity as the Holy Spirit is evident to them.

How can Muslims be assured that the Qur'an is the Word of God?

Zaakir The Quran's sentence that everything is made of water is not exact. It says that only living beings were created from water. Water in Quranic vocabulary is the semen and not the water you use to drink. Of course it could also be plain water. What is extraordinary for anybody to notice...

How can Muslims be assured that the Qur'an is the Word of God?

Zaakir First of all Muhammad did not live in the desert but was a businessman who lived in the town of Mecca and ran an import-export firm with his first wife. Eventually he became a religious leader and a statesman. Secondly there is no proof that the Quran came only from or through the...

How can Muslims be assured that the Qur'an is the Word of God?

Zaakir I'm reading the Quran and I find several scientific facts mentioned in it. Most of them are either wrong or can be observed by anyone without God's help. Those who are wrong are reflecting scientific ideas as people of the 7th century knew them. I'll let you give one or two examples of...

How can Muslims be assured that the Qur'an is the Word of God?

Zaakir God is the best writer. So if he would write something that is amazing in Arabic, it would also be amazing in translation. He must have known that the Quran would be read mostly by non-Arabic speaking people. Could you give precise examples of things you find "amazing" in the Quran? I...

How can Muslims be assured that the Qur'an is the Word of God?

Light Some suras are so simplistic that I find it unbelievable not to be able to imitate them. As I told you the only requirement is that Muslims give the exact conditions of the challenge before any attempt is being made. As of the "scientific miracles of the Quran" they have been debunked...

How can Muslims be assured that the Qur'an is the Word of God?

You are right Aburaees. The attempts have been done several times. For the Quran the terms of the challenge are two lines long and for some Muslim scholars they take a whole page. So before such a challenge can be taken up the two sides must settle for a common list of literary requirements.

How can Muslims be assured that the Qur'an is the Word of God?

Zaakir It is not written in the Quran to try to imitate a verse but at least a chapter. As some chapters are very short, the length of the imitation is not a problem. The problem is that Muslims cannot agree on the terms of the challenge. The Quran is very vague about those terms. Various...

How can Muslims be assured that the Qur'an is the Word of God?

Light You are certainly right when you say that Allah did not write in his Quran that he would protect former scriptures from corruption. But he could have done it out of respect for his own Word. Your proof that the Quran remained unchanged for 1400 years is not a proof of a divine origin...

Do we (Muslims, Christians and Jews) believe in the same God or not?

I don't understand how it can be the same God when yourself you acknowledged that there are "some" differences. I would not talk of "some" differences but of a big difference. As far as I know the Trinity in the Christian version of God is not "some difference". A religion is a right creed with...

Do we (Muslims, Christians and Jews) believe in the same God or not?

If the Christian triune God is the same as Allah what about the different verses in the Quran that denounce the Trinity as polytheism ? The name El/Elohim from the Bible is not a variation of the name Allah but both are variations of a common Semitic name for God.
