Have you taught your children about other faiths?

My mother might disagree with this. ;)

How did a Hindu became an atheist.

It's not the size of the paragraph. It's how you use it. ;) Pushing something off the table and it falling is karma in its most basic form. But is "it falling" the only effect from pushing that something off the table? If that something was, for instance, your cell phone, and when it hit the...

What is it like where you live?

I live in a rural area about 4 miles from a small college town. Town ethnicity per 2024 consensus: 91.4% white, 0.8% black, 0.5% Asian, 7.0% two or more races, 1.6% Hispanic/Latino. University ethnicity per 2023 enrollment: 83.6% white, 4.2% black, 3.4% two or more races, 3.1% Hispanic/Latino...

Have you taught your children about other faiths?

While I didn't actually teach any religions unless they asked specific questions about them, my daughters understood/understand that they were/are free to explore different paths and settle on one that fit their views and needs or not to settle on anything at all. They were/are aware of the...

How did a Hindu became an atheist.

As neither an atheist nor a theist, I have no "God" to hold me accountable for my actions. However, I have no way of not getting caught by myself, and it's me (not the person, but my true nature) that determines the karmic consequence of my actions. Also, the "if one is caught" implies that...

How did a Hindu became an atheist.

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for. I expressed that karma is causality...cause/effect...and that every action has consequence. I'm sorry you did not find that helpful. What else, specifically, are you looking for?

How did a Hindu became an atheist.

Of course, but because one doesn't get caught in no way means one has escaped the effect of karma.

How did a Hindu became an atheist.

The definition @Aupmanyav posted is accurate. Karma is, in it's simplest definition, causality. The point I was making is "if you are caught" is not a qualification of karma. Every action has effect and/or consequence, good or bad. Whether or not one is caught has nothing to do with karma.

Correct. No qualifier in there stating "if you are caught." That must have been it. It's around lunchtime here and I'm getting a bit hungry. 😝

What you describe is not karma. There is no definition karma that qualifies consequence with "if you are caught."

How did a Hindu became an atheist.

From a Muslim or Abrahamic perspective, of course. But it's important in interfaith dialogue to keep in mind that not everyone shares that perspective. "Creation" isn't a narrative in many non-Abrahamic or non-religious worldviews, so the terms used to describe God or evidence for God are an...

Well there's your evidence! Is it God's fault that you didn't make the task time-bound? ;)

How did a Hindu became an atheist.

I don't know, but people have a propensity to assign God to a location (emphasis mine)... "Where" implies a point (or several) in space. "Closer" can also imply a point in space, especially when compared to a jugular vein, which is a thing in space. Are love, mercy, forgiveness, and patience...

How did a Hindu became an atheist.

You have made a few assumptions about what "God" is. 1. God takes personal requests. B. God is interested in proving God's existence upon atheists' request. Ψ. God has a magic wand that apparently controls weather. How would proving the existence of heaven and hell demonstrate the existence of...

How did a Hindu became an atheist.

Does this even matter if it has not been determined what one means by 'God?' What the term points to varies depending on who is asked. Can one know where God is? If not, then how can one know where God isn't? As I see it, if one assigning location to God by saying God is not in the...

While I doubt many Advaita Vedantins, let alone Hindus, would describe Brahman as a blob of plasma, your post does give me a bit more insight into your materialist view of Advaita Vedanta. Thank you for sharing it.

    The Spiritual Path

I've never been fond of the word "potentially" in this quote. From my perspective, the true nature of each "soul" is divine, but as a result of attachment and desire vis-à-vis ego, people, in general, are ignorant of this nature. But I agree with Vivekananda on everything beyond the first sentence.
