What Are You Watching on Youtube?

This post is both nostalgic and puzzling. I was a very small child on holiday with my family. We were in the area of the Thames estuary. This was about 1960. My father took me for an early morning walk along the shore and it became very foggy. Suddenly the mist seemed to part and there was this...

Helping to improve the world for all people everywhere.

It can be risky, but it can be very rewarding. I did it for a few years but got totally burnt out. The organisation I was with were very good. They knew the risks, so we were only allowed to do one shift every two weeks, but if you get some really bad calls it can just get into your head...

    Is Wicca pagan-lite?

No, not "just because" of anything. It was only fair that I mentioned my areas of interest. At no time did I mention anything regarding who might have "invented" anything". I am fully aware that "These things have been around for thousands of years and practiced by multiple religions," so your...

    Religion of love?

Thank you @Faithfulservant. I am sorry that this is over two years too late, but I only found it the other day. I know nothing about Greek, so this was a surprise. I keep thinking about it. Love is such an overused and misused word, it has virtually become a disposable item. Very clever people...

    What are you currently reading?

I have just read 'A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian'. The very odd name nearly put me off buying it but I am glad that I went ahead. A thoroughly enjoyable novel.

    Mercuraen?

I started this thread with a fairly simple question, some years ago. Sadly I lost track. I apologise, sometimes life can be very distracting. In an attempt to catch up, I have just read through these five pages and the amount of information within is incredible. A belated thank-you to all who...

    This Lucifer thing ...

Thank you @Thomas, great work so far, and I am looking forward to more. Curiously, I was always a little irritated when people referred to the devil as Lucifer. Possibly because I find Lucifer to be an attractive word. I was long curious as to why people referred to Satan as Lucifer, and why a...

Religion and Prayer in the Workplace

To me, it seems to be nothing less than a form of bullying.

    One God, Many Paths

I do not agree. One "is" is upside down. If you adjust your position to read it, then the flow is just the same, from person to God.

    One God, Many Paths

There is nothing wrong with my eyesight, and I would request that you try to be civil. Other than language, in what sense is your shield different to mine? No, it does not.

What Are You Watching on Youtube?

I have been watching this, I keep returning to it. It is an excellent documentary, very atmospheric. I am a Londoner and had direct ancestors here during this period. Thankfully, most seem to have survived it.

    One God, Many Paths

Sorry Longfellow, I do not see that. I have not seen one of these earlier shields either. Do you have an example, or further info?

Encounters with other beliefs in young adulthood

I have read good things about Unity. If I get a chance, I might visit. The trouble is that I work weekends, which does cause many limitations.

    The Many Paths of Hinduism

Perhaps it would then be better if he just answered for himself.

    The Many Paths of Hinduism

You may be right. My question though was more about Hindu attitudes in general rather than Aupmanyav's particular beliefs.

    The Many Paths of Hinduism

I have read of some Hindus including somebody from outside the faith, such as Buddha and Jesus, as their "Guru". Is this entirely acceptable within Hinduism, or is considered strange?

    Religion and Spirituality?

I found the opening comments of this video to be relevant to this thread. Muhammad's comment about the need for family/community is, in my opinion, undeniably true. In the video, Rupert Sheldrake adds the ideas of place and continuity to the mix. This immediately struck a chord with me. I have...

    Religion and Spirituality?

Recently, somewhere on the internet, I came across the question "do we need the institution of religion to enjoy the benefits of spirituality?" From the comfort zone of my own pick and mix style spirituality, I would once have said no. Of recent years, however, that certainty has weakened, and...

Is the soul real? A Neurosurgeon explores the evidence

Yes, possibly, but I am sure we can all remember being patronized for our youthful opinions at some point. Age can certainly play a role, but in debate it is a two-way street. But that can be true for atheists too. It looks to me that if you work in a scientific field and have a religion you...
