From Louis, an impartial observer....
A question for anyone familiar with Jewish history -
I have read the story about Lazarus, who was
supposedly "raised from death" by jesus.
I have also read there was an ancient Hebrew ceremomy -
a spring re-birth festival - during which a man would
enter a tomb and stay there until someone called for
him to come out.
Was there realy such a ceremony ?
If yes, did it have a name ?

doesn't ring a bell. if you give me more details, i might be able to find something. but this sounds celtic to me, not jewish.

From Louis...
Sorry - All I know is the word-of-mouth story contained
in the "gospels" and a few un-substantiated articles...
nothing worth quoting ...
Thanks for trying...

I haven't heard of that, either. That'd be neat if there was such a thing. It puts me more in mind of Bacchus and other Pagan rituals. I don't doubt there were similiar celebrations for summer, but that seems too parallel to the Lazarus thing.
