Hey,

what translations of the Koran are most similar to the quotes from the Koran that Baha'u'llah uses in His writings?

Right now, I have this translation of the Koran by J.M. Rodwell. Some of the quotes from the Book of Certitude and this translation do not match.

For example:

"What can such expect that God should come down to them overshadowed in clouds?" (Koran 2:210; Kitab-i-iqan 83).

Again, this is not in J.M. Rodwell's translation of the Koran.

Any suggestions?

The Guardian Shoghi Effendi himself translated some of the verses of the Qur'an into English.. and you can read them in the book "Baha'i References to Judaism, Christainity and Islam" compiled by James Heggi.

Shoghi Effendi also praised the work of J.M. Rodwell at the time as a good translation into English..

Baha'is would of course respect the translations of Shoghi Effendi.
