The Plato Code

A science historian at The University of Manchester has cracked “The Plato Code” – the long disputed secret messages hidden in the great philosopher’s writings.

Science historian cracks "the Plato code" (The University of Manchester)
Dagnabbit OAT, you beat me to it!

"[Dr. Kennedy said] 'I have shown rigorously that the books do contain codes and symbols and that unraveling them reveals the hidden philosophy of Plato. This is a true discovery, not simply reinterpretation.' ... The hidden codes show that Plato anticipated the Scientific Revolution 2,000 years before Isaac Newton, discovering its most important idea — the book of nature is written in the language of mathematics. ... Plato did not design his secret patterns purely for pleasure — it was for his own safety. Plato's ideas were a dangerous threat to Greek religion. He said that mathematical laws and not the gods controlled the universe. Plato's own teacher [Socrates] had been executed for heresy. Secrecy was normal in ancient times, especially for esoteric and religious knowledge, but for Plato it was a matter of life and death." Here is the paper (PDF), which was published in the journal Apeiron: A Journal of Ancient Philosophy and Science.

That wasn't Plato's idea, it was Pythagoras.
(who heavily influenced Plato)

I don't see any "hidden code"
all i see is a writing style based on musical scale.
(whose importance was also highlighted by Pythagoras)

Plato was not the type to esteem hidden or secret messages.

So.....what does Plato have to say then?]
If he had some cryptography going on.....what did he say in the coded texts that was so important that it rated being put into code?

Haha, I don't know, I was just referring to how he condemns poets inthe Republic. I just thought the irony was funny, but it seems like he did this just for practical reasons (rather than stylistic).

I read way too fast at first, thought this was something to do with Disney...
