How do feel when

How do you feel when someone tells you must do the spells the way they do them or your spells will not work? I resent it. I think spells should be done the way you feel they would work. There is no right or wrong way, or the only way.

Someone told me that if I do decide to print out a couple of spells here and there I cannot throw the paper to the wind, I must bury them or it wont work. Why. I feel throwing the paper out to the wind will carry my spell further then just burying them. To me burying them would kill the spell. Of course right before I print the spell I reduce the font to the smallest so no one can read them only the universe can.

But I feel that the way I do the spells which is on the computer to me is the best way for me. As I said I decide on the words I am going to use, copy them into the graphic program, select my clip art and save the document and then close out of the document. And many of my spells are happening.

To Pill Hill: thank you. Also how do you feel about what I wrote?

to bobx (Phil Hill) forget my question, I didnt mean to ask you that, what I meant to ask you: do you get angry if someone questions the way you do your spells or do you just ignore them?

Well, for most things in my life I've found that conventional wisdom doesn't work for me. Sometimes, after long experimentation, I come to the realization that standard methods work best, but I always have to do things my own way. Pretty much everything I know I had to learn the hard way from trial and error. There's too much garbage in conventional wisdom and people just repeat what they've heard or read without serious study or thought. As far as spells go, I think it's more important to bring a sense of personal meaning to the work. Whatever serves to focus your intention will work.

OTOH, sharing knowledge requires shared understanding, shared symbolism, and shared language. Pressure toward adopting standardized terms and methodology is just part of that process. If one wants to practice alone without input one is free to do whatever one wants, but to share a dialog about it requires some give and take, and the working with and around egos and blind loyalty. That's just kid of the way it is.

Not many true punks exist. People just naturally mooove towards standards, all except for those who are extremely confident in themselves. Ah, also those who've given up on fitting in will occasionally appear to not need standards, but they are just big fakes. As soon as they see something that gives them a little bit of refuge they run toward it. They can be very introspective though. That's something.

People don't usually feel confident enough to be comfortable without rules that tell them what is acceptable behavior; so trends are continually turning into practices which become almost rules. Example: you grow up in a society where everyone has tea parties and that is just what people do. It is expected that when you live there, you're going to frequently have people over for tea. If you don't do this, then the people around you wonder what to expect from you, and you go down a rung in status. Why? Because your pattern does not fit the sheltering expectations. But its only tea! I suppose your spells are not about status, but I don't see why they would be immune to everyone's tendency to standardize everything. People get comfortable with the way something is done, they are going to worry about anyone who's doing it some other.
