Here is an old Betty Boop one which I believe was banned, at one point.

Is there ever a real case for banning a cartoon, or by doing so are we perhaps guilty of being as over sensitive as the Muslims who get very irrate at anyone daring to draw a satirical cartoon of Mohammed?

Anyway...

I dont think I am a racist. perhaps Im just ignorant or plain stupid. If we look at elmer fudd, does that mean that racially speaking, the "men' are represented by a short fat bald white guy with a lisp?

One thing political correctness has taught us is to NOT laugh at ourselves. I think that this is wrong.
Perhaps I am niave, being racist is hating someone for their skin/race etc. In most of these cartoons, the white fella (Elmer) was the loser, and I laughed.

But thts just my opinion.

I thought it was humour........ but then again, I could be wrong.

No, I think you're right, but remember, these days we have a culture of 'being offended', there are people who just cannot wait to find *something* to be offended about ... even animation.

Freedom of expression in all mediums is crucial imo, as is an ability not to take things too seriously.

On the upside, both Family Guy and South Park are often very politically incorrect - :D

was it South Park that got some death threats ?

See I dont like South Park or Family guy........... but My sons, (adults) love it. That kind of humour I dont get....... but, Im not offended by it. Oh I might add, I never liked Ren and Stempy (dont know if you guys know that one), but once again, my boys thought it was "freaking awesome~~) . Dunno, must be the mother in me. LOL

'Tis all subjective I suppose, but I think Family Guy can be both very funny, and very un-pc. Somewhat refreshing in an often sterile world, these days - like I say, you have an fashion now to seek reason to be offended. The humour in FG can seem a bit silly at times, but it is also capable of cutting political wit, as well as being able to get away with humour that is definitely not PC.

South Park, imo, was a bit of genius of it's time, crude, in your face, but very funny at it's peak.

I have never understood why people choose to watch something on television if they are a sensitive soul, and likely to have their preciousness troubled by what they are watching.

How about they turn it off, or move onto a channel that suits their taste a bit more, rather than take the option away for others?

I am Scottish, and if I went to see a comedian, and part of his act was to be offensive about Scots, then I would have to decide if I had thick skin or thin skin.

If I had the former, then I would maybe enjoy it, laugh along with the observations, if I were thin skinned .... then all I need to do is not go see that one comedian or get over myself.

Ahhhhhhh reminds me of Billy Connolly............. Love that guy.......... But have to admit, for the first few years, when some of his shows were televised in Australia, I cudnae unnaestand a wrd e sayd. !!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
