Apostle and disciple interchangeable?

In the Catholic Church, are the terms "apostle" and "disciple" interchangeable? If not, what would be the difference between the two?

The terms are often interchangeable, but technically, a disciple is a follower, whereas an apostle is a messenger, or ambassador ...

All Christians are called to the Ministry of the Word, and one could say inwardly one is a disciple, outwardly one is an apostle.
