Naw-Ruz Baha'i New Year starts March 21st.

Baha'is around the world will be observing Naw-Ruz, Baha'i New Year, in a few days. It is the New Years Day of the Baha'i Calendar started by the Bab (Siyyid Ali Muhammad) in the Gregorian year 1844 and 1260 A.H. of the Muslim calendar.

For Baha'is this will be the year 169 of the Baha'i Era actually coinciding with the Vernal Equinox (give or take a day), Naw-Ruz is also observed by Zoroastrians and Shiah Muslims from Afganistan to Iraq... It is the ancient Persian New Year.

Naw-Ruz marks the end of the nineteen day fasting period and so is celebrated by picnics, community gatherings and food!

"The UN's General Assembly in 2010 recognized the International Day of Nowruz, describing it a spring festival of Persian origin which has been celebrated for over 3,000 years."
