Ramadan Mubarak to all of you, brothers and sisters in Islam. May Allah SWT grant you peace and hapiness, in this world and the next, inshaAllah.

Here is a beautiful Bosnian nasheed to greet you all. It is called "Peace of My Heart." The person singing the nasheed is a student from Sarajevo Madrassa.

Ramadan Mubarak to you too Amica. What is a nasheed?
I listened to the music video and I noticed it didn't contain any Middle Eastern nuances that its music is known for (possibly a little at the intro with the ney). The piano cannot deliver the subtle shadings of a Rast and none of the Maqams can be played properly then.

These quarter tones of Middle Eastern music to me have always been the beauty behind the music much the same way the intricate patterns of Arabic art unfold into such beautiful tapestries.

Salaam Etu--

I think the music itself is a mix of things. Bosnian Muslims try to adopt Arabic tones with their own. The combination we have grown to call: arabesques. Nasheed is a spiritual (religious) song that sometimes contains dua verses. Here is the translation of the nasheed that I posted:

Peace of My Heart

The wind is breaking the body, pressuring halovi
But still I stand proud, loyal to the Only Lord.
Thinking I alone remain, turning face to (my) Creator,
Getting closer to him with Dua, filling the heart with deen.

You are my pride, my Truth, my Light among the darkness,
Love beyond all love, (my) only Lord.
You are The Cure for all wounds, The Peace when tears fall.
You're The Salvation to the faithful, and we love You, Ya Allah.

Tears wet (my) cheeks, (my) chest is torn by grief,
Are You granting me a trial, or inviting me to You? Allah!
You -Who Know all the secrets, You- Who protects the sincere,
The Joy for the patient, You are enough for me.

You are my pride, my Truth, my Light among the darkness,
Love beyond all love, (my) only Lord.
You are The Cure for all wounds, The Peace when tears fall.
You're The Salvation to the faithful, and we love You, Ya Allah.

Thank you, Bananabrain. Thanks for the link too.

Salaam ;)
