Hi all,
First, let me say, what a wonderful forum! I've only begun to explore, and everything I've read so far has encouraged me to think more deeply about religion and its place in the world. I look forward to hopefully being a part of this community.
About my name: deriving from the word "theophany," which means "revelation from God," I change the "a" to an "o," creating a perceived change in etymology, where "theo" means "god," and "phony" means "sound" or "music." So, literally speaking, my name means "god sound" or "god music." Being a musician, I've always related with God being equated with the original and everpresent "Ommm" of life.
A bit about me: my main passion is religion and interreligious dialogue. I have a BA in Religious Studies. I have studied all of the five major world religions in depth, and I have a profound respect for each one of them. From samsara and moksha, to Shalom, to the Four Noble Truths and nirvana, to Jesus' life of sacrificial love, to the Pillars of Islam, I have gained a fondness for the people and faiths that represent these religions.
I identify as a Christian, but my beliefs are so heretical that few Christians would not consider me as one of them. I'm also a musician, a poet, an avid reader of anything religious, a heretic, and a homosexual.
Peace to you all, and I hope to be conversing with some of you in the forums!
