I really did not expect NY Times to have a decent article with the name Islam in it. I find most of their content to be very directional. That being said even though I believe their slant is slightly more anti, it is a well written balanced piece.

I agree some reformation should occur in teaching. Not a change in belief, but just the approach. Too many people are being born and raised without understanding the Quran. They memorize the words but never reflect on the meaning.

They should investigate Christianity next.
Alot of people into Islam want to impose shiriah law. Our laws are already based on the ten commandments so there is no need to do that politically. Do you want to live in a world where they are imposing details not contained in the ten commandments. Moses was not only given ten commandments but a whole legal system consisting of over 300 laws and three conditions that must be met to violate a commandment. Our legal system is not going by this completely but they are close.

This is clearly abuse of an individual and a product of sharia law. It actually contradicts god and remember they whipped jesus who didnt even do anything wrong. Its not islam but the interpretation or should I say misinterpretation of it.

These people are actually doing the opposite of what the prophet mohammad meant.
