My wife and I attended a local event in our town called the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast which has been held on the National Day of Prayer for several years now. The event was sponsored by the Interfaith Council at the Orton Center University of Redlands.

Baha'is have been active in the Interfaith Council for several years.

A Muslim offered an opening prayer reciting the Surat al- Fatiha in Arabic with his translation.

We had a presentation on the Holocaust because today May 4th was Holocaust Memorial Day

A member of the local Reformed Synagogue shared a Hebrew song written in a death camp that had survived...

Also there was a young Syrian woman who was a refugee in our community and she shared a lovely poem she read to us.

The Mayor of our city Paul Foster spoke about the recent loss of his son... and also how sad he was that our community had been on National news back on December 2, 2015 for the acts of a few terrorists in a neighboring city.

There was sadness but healing as well.
