No, in the "message". Sometimes links end up being "backdoors" for Trojan horses and other viruses/worms (or they take one to sites that could get the user in trouble with the PtBs.)

Have there been issues this week with this type of thing? There is a link checker built into the site that is supposed to moderate anything that leads to a virus/trojan/malware type site. I get those every now and then, so I know the checker works, but I can't guarantee it is 100% effective.

Not this week, but when the last spammer posted all of the BS/MS/PhD, there was at least two links that could've gotten everyone in trouble with "The Man" iykwim (I won't dredge up the bitter memories any further...)

Yes, I’ve put a few extra blocks in place to try and keep those types of links from showing up. Definitely don’t need to go back into those old memories any farther.
 
For those of you who noticed that I deleted all of MikeDwight's posts, I know you don't like that because it throws off the threads. I apologize for that disruption, but he had so many flagged posts caught in moderation I took the less time consuming route of removing everything as spam, rather than go through each thread individually to delete it.

The spammer count has been through the roof lately. If you see something or are suspicious, please PM me. Some of you already have and I appreciate your vigilance and commitment to the forum. Thank you.

Right now, Tovarish is asleep on one of "our" dinette chairs (I would take a photo of her, but :kitty:s have both a sixth and a seventh sense about being photographed imho...) Let's just say that she's in a purrfect diving tuck except her chin's pointing up at the ceiling.

After spending hours this weekend clearing out spam and troll posts, I’ve installed a new plugin that will hopefully limit more of them.

Please remain proactive about spammers and trolls. Thank you to those of you who have been reporting those that make it through the filters.

if you get error messages about the site being down, please let me know when you can. I have reached out to the site host to clear user caches as that may be contributing to the outages, in combination with the spammers and trolls.

These are new types of trolls, so I’m open to suggestions on additional pleasant things to look at on my other tabs.
