The New City Jerusalem

I have often heard it preached from the pulpit “ when we get up there we’ll walk on streets of gold” and you have heard it also. I thought too myself “Why do we have to go up there to walk on streets of gold when Peter said that the new city Jerusalem is coming down”. Can someone solve this delimia for me for I have no answer.
