The Americans clamor claims to be a Christian nation (often) and changed their department of war to the defense department to prove it while causing wars, spending more on war machines than the next dozen countries for decades, marched across the country annihilating the natives, performing regime change and placing troops around the world....

The Amish and Quakers are pretty much the only sects I see that abide by Jesus's gentle way. (And surely not.always)

I think as @Thomas has often observed: it's a pity that 'Christians' are held to all be American fundamentalist?

EDIT: Very much of the good work of education and hospitals and work against AIDS and hunger in Africa and other places, is carried out quietly by the Catholic Church.

Ohers too: The Salvation Army just quietly gets on with sheltering.
