Going with a friend who has asked me to go to support her, first time she has a role in some ceremony. First time for me to attend this interfaith service at this synagogue in DC.

I'll report back as to the nature and tenor of the service.

Oh my, how absolutely incredible the service was. Prayers recited and chanted and sung from so many faiths. Dozens of clergy in all their regalia. The energy of love and peace and unity charged the air.

All this after having to walk thru the police out front, the metal detectors, guards and wands at the door. A sign of life in a country of guns, if hate crimes, against Jews, against the lgtbqia+ community. But that was the gate, the threshold we stepped over into an incredible space of music and hope...more to come.

Were police officers doing a pat-down search? Sounds like heavy security there.

Another joy of the interfaith service, the pagans I went with had to go early for sound checks and staging directions, for their part in the show. Which left me alone in the temple library looking at all their various relics and history, talking with the chellist about his 300 year old chello which was hidden in a coffin during the Holocaust...and spending time with the midrash the OT/tanakh is a portion of our bible yet the midrash is a whole shelf. While I am at a time in life where I wanna purge my books and physical things... I so wanna read more midrash...maybe audio books. There is a quote in my head, "to be a good christian you must first be a good jew"...the midrash has called to me a long time...
