After a series of rapid and significant life changes, I realized I wouldn’t have the financial or time commitments to keep this site alive.

In conversation with some of the other members, @RJM Corbet has agreed to take over ownership of the site. Working with a team of established members to help serve as moderators, I am completely confident that he, and they, will keep this small corner of the internet a much needed place for civilized dialogue, debate, and community.

I will still be around but due to the life changes and my new reality, I don’t know how often. If you have questions, please reach out to RJM or other Site Staff members.

Steve approached several members about them taking over the site, but none wanted to do it. I finally agreed to take it on because I thought it was important to keep the site alive.

We decided on a group of the most active core members to work together to try and keep this thing going in a good way. The hosting fee was due to expire this week. I have managed to pay the hosting fees for two years ahead so the site will be safe for at least that long.

@Cino suggested that members help Steve cover the hosting fee. A few of us agreed to make up the money, but Steve said he just doesn't have the time to do it. He really has enough else to deal with right now.

There will be mistakes but at least we will still have a website.

Steve is still involved in admin and advising, and there's a lot to know. But with the pressure off him now.

This is a small site and of course it doesn't need so many moderators. But it is important to involve the core group of most active members to influence the direction of IO as a group.

For me it's the case of life throwing up the least expected thing. It's a challenge, to say the least, lol -- especially the tech admin stuff. But anyway we're just going to have to mix it up together until we find a best way to make it work, imo?
