Hi, I'm new here. Thought I'd introduce myself.
My pseudonym here in Contrarian Deist.
I'm a 42 year old Canadian PanDeist. A metalhead, and a contrarian freethinker inspired by the likes of Thomas Paine(my hero), Christopher Hitchens(whose book *Letters to a young contrarian* is where I found the label *contrarian* which fits me like a glove, born this way, lol!), Aleister Crowley, George Orwell, and a thousand other brilliant individuals from all walks of life and statuses in society.
I'm sociopolitically a *libertarian centrist*(leaning center right conservatarians in some issues/contexts and classical liberal to slightly center left/left libertarian in a few issues/contexts) and a civic nationalist opposed to globalist totalitarianism(not the concept of the *brotherhood of man/brotherhood of humanity and all sentient beings*...I'm for that, but globalism in terms of the transnational totalitarian agenda for a one world govt totalitarianism using hippyish rhetoric or SJW progressivism and cultural neomarxism and monopoly/crony capitalism to divide and conquer).

And of course my cosmology or theology(I prefer *deology*) of PanDeism/PanenDeism. A brief note in my religious background. Raised Christian(mainstream protestant), in my mid-late teens did the born again evangelical Christian thing for allmost a decade till around 24- then liberal Christian for a short while, then around 25 early 2004 left the faith and revealed religion to become a classical deist, during which time I also embraced and started practicing occultism...calling myself a symbolic deistic satanis(mainly of the *dark doctrines Sat-Tan-ism* type as well as symbolic deistic neo-gnostic Luciferian...which label I much preferred to *satanism*, and explored various forms of occultism of the LHP and also the RHP....especially Aleister Crowley's *Thelema*) and I remained so till several years ago when I decided to just abandon all *religion* period.
Also during that 12 or 13 year period I joined what was called the *Universist* movement rationalist quasi-religion which joined atheists, deists, agnostics, pantheists, and transcendentalists in a common *faithless* religion/movement till it went defunct. Also in early-mid 2007 read Sam Harris book *the end of faith* and was struck and compelled by an argument he made that convinced me to drop *deism* and become agnostic-atheist...but not a hard atheist and also retained equal openness to both the deistic and atheistic perspectives, then about five months in I read a couple books by physicist Paul Davies(who is a Deist) namely *cosmic jackpot* and *God and the new physics* and *mind of god* and ex leading atheist turned Deist Antony Flews book *there is a God . How the worlds most notorious atheist changed his mind* and was compelled towards Deism again...but not classical deism but rather a form of PanDeism/PanenDeism...and remain such to this day.
That's my religious/spiritual/theological(deological) journey in a nutshell.
Oh and to this day I still am an occultist ....only just intellectually as a researcher...not as a practitioner.

Anyways. I'm pleased to make your acquaintances and hope to have many illuminating, thought provoking discussions on any and every topic here.

In reason.
Contrarian Deist.

Welcome, @Contrarian Deist!

When you say that you especially explored Thelema, did you join any organizations or attend any public services, such as the Gnostic Mass?

What occult research do you do nowadays?

Looking forward to more discussion!

Thank you all

Cino.
No, I never joined any organizations of Thelema(nor for that matter any other occult...rhp or LHP organizations....well I SORT OF joined the *satanic reds*.I recieved a membership certificate...in pdf file to print out, that's about it.
I joined a number of occult and particularly LHP...satanist and luciferian forums..,but never officially joined any organizationss),
As for Thelema I never joined any public...or private rituals or ceremonies(ditto with luciferianism and satanism, etc), but when I practiced the occult..I did some rituals privately and dabbled with magick.
I've a number of occult books from acrossed the spectrum and have done much research online from acrossed the spectrum as well over the years(and interactions with others online).
In terms of Thelemite writings I only own Crowleys *Gems from the equinox* and *777(and other Qabbalistic writings of Aleister Crowley)*. But I've also read his autobiography.

As far as these days occult research. I mostly read and reread the occult books and writings I've accumulated over the years, and still done little on line from acrossed the occult spectrum and go down any rabbit holes I come upon. But I did alot of research over the years, enough so that I understand all the surface of most paths and deeper into a few particularly. Certainly not a foremost scholar on the occult , but notes newbie or neophyte either(still neophyte in terms of practical/practice...especially since i discontinued practics several years ago, but in terms of my intellectual awareness, understanding, knowledge of various occult paths/philosophies and the overarching occultism in general..,no longer a newbie/neophyte...but certainly not of higher grades either, somewhere in the middle.,,and comfortable there),

My hope and goal while I was practicing was to reach the lofty goal of master of the temple or a secret ipsissimus...buuuut...I don't think that will ever occur or even get very close(at least not in this lifetime)..lol!

As for ritual or magick, most of what I practiced in those terms was taken from various Luciferian and Satanist and Chaote sources.
No longer interested in ritual magick at all, nor in joining organizations. Purely independent.

Chaos Magic as well!? Which authors do you read?

Just some Austin Osman Spare, none of the other major authors of it(peter j caroll, etc) though I do own a book *practical sigil magick* by Frater U.D.
But also various books and online writings by various satanist and luciferian and LHP authors/thinkers who also write on the concept of chaos magick( I own a couple Michael W. Ford books for example such as *luciferian witchcraft*...which among other things explores and explains chaotism and chaos magick).
But also read much from various thinkers and writers on it...online(and watched videos)

As far as other occult authors I've read or have books or writings from aside from the above and Crowley.
Let's see. Lavey, Jeremy Crowe, Tani Jantsang and Philip Marsh(satanic reds), the GCoL( I own their handbook *wisdom of eosphoros*)and the neo-luciferian church of Denmark, John Alee, Michael Aquino, Carl William Hansen(Ben Kadosh), Blavatsky, Simon's Necronomicon, Richard Leviton, online writings from various occultists and occult orders and orgs both LHP and RHP, some new age and some neopagan stuff(not as much but some) books or online writings about/on various major occult secret societies from Rosicrucianism to Freemasonry(reads little Pike)...and many, many more.

What motivates your deep interest in the occult? You mentioned how you stopped to do practical work. Do you draw philosophical insights from it? Do you publish scholarly research? Where do you get the juice to deal with all this dry matter?

To Cino.

In short, my PanDeism. My consuming desire to understand the mind of or ultimate nature and will of God(divine mind source/creator...whatever you wish to label it) and the nature and purpose of its creation(the universe/multiverse...IF there is a multiverse that is, cosmos/nature)...which is really just an emanation of it's own substance/mind/being.
That has motivated my entire life, especially since I became a Deist/PanDeist(but I became that because christianity and revealed religion seemed to me in my last years as such to obfuscate mors than answer those fundamental questions about God and gods creation that I had within me).
My study of the occult ...as well as of philosophy, sciences, comparitive religion/mythology and everything else I've studied, but especially occult sciences and philosophy really helped me to a greater and more profound understanding of Gods nature and will and the nature and purpose of creation/cosmos, its complicated but I like to sum it up in the axioms of unification of opposites and as above so below.
So yes, while I stopped practicing the occult and ritual/magick/etc(because I did not have the strength and fortitude for it)...studying or researching it and coming to understand the ins and outside had indeed helped me to draw significant philosophical and spiritual insights.

I dont publish anything. Although I do have a few blogs that I created years ago but haven't contrubute to since I apostasized from satanism/luciferianism and stopped practicing occult ritual/magick and rejected the obsession with demonology and angelology and the need for mythological reference points.
One was a Deistic-satanism/luciferianism blog, another was called the peoples luciferian, another blog from even before those days...waaaaay back in the early 2000s right after I left christianity..the iconoclast project, and I also had a blog several years ago called the duelling deist. But while all these blogs remain Googleable on the net(because I no longer remember my passwords and usernames to be able to get in and DELETE and/or make amends and/or add to) I haven't added to for YEARS nor did I really contribute much material to any of them..and aside from the duelling deist blog....the others don't really reflect my current views(fully or properly).

I've been pretty active over the years on the net, contributing my thoughts to discussions and debates online and making posts...on Facebook and comments on YouTube, etc.. but I've not been active much online or social media the last couple years until the last couple months I've gotten a little back in, but deleted facebook and most social media.
Kind of half gone off the grid.

Lol! Where do I get the juice? God only knows. Lol! On the surface I've pretty run outa juice Hahaha! But SOMETHING keeps me going to some degree
