Atheists on Interfaith site?

Well, I myself am put off by the way some church structures and individuals conduct themselves and the way religion is sometimes taught, but I've never let that sway my faith and belief in God. As for atheists on I.O, seems counter-intuitive to me, but as long as they are not deliberately disruptive and constantly shouting there is no god at every turn, I don't have any particular problem with it.

Trolls are trolls, whatever they profess to believe, or not believe, imo

First of all, thanks for having me.

There are many kinds of atheists, just as there are many kinds of believers.

I'm perhaps a strange kind of atheist, one who found out he has no God through dedicated spiritual exercises and ritual.

Beautifully expressed, Cino.
I think your expression just about sums up my experience.

I felt I knew God via the experiences I had when I sincerely began my conscious search for 'the absolute truth'.
Without going into details here, my belief collapsed when I realized that, that which I was experiencing was not God or some supreme ideal.

I remain in awe of existence with the same intensity as I believed in God.
Most of the people I know are God believers and most of our conversations are just as deep as when I was a believer.
My closest friend is a non-denomination fundamentalist Christian who absolutely believes that Jesus is the only way. This does not stop us having hours long discussions of what scriptures mean.

Happy Jewish new year.

Happy holiday to you, @Craz!

Being in awe of existence. That captures it perfectly. And is in the spirit of the time, as well :) Thanks!

I never believed in God with the same intensity. I was always a doubter who abandoned his Gods but did not need to abandon his religion. Surely, I am in awe of existence, of universe and of human psychology. What all images it paints for us!

“Do not be too quick to condemn the man who no longer believes in God: for it is perhaps your own coldness and avarice and mediocrity and materialism and selfishness that have chilled his faith.”
I partly agree with this message. Most people who condemn and curse at people who leave a faith, end up leaving or becoming cold in the faith themselves. Heat comes from a spiritual fire which provides warmth and comfortable feelings and mentality.

Atheists do not condemn or curse (there is nothing like a curse in the dictionary of atheist, because someone wishing good or bad is not going to affect any other person) anyone, they only feel sorry for their ignorance of believing in things which have no evidence. OK, in this winter of energy scarcity light your spiritual fire to keep yourself warm.

I retreat. I am no king and cannot speak for all of them. I do not do that.
But I sure show the mirror to theists who think that only they are right.
Some theists are aware of the weakness of their positions.
