As the world turns, everything comes around again.

We continually get another chance

The only begotten is continually begotten

Celestial occurances are

As above so below

Light a candle or a bonfire for Brigit, but Phil saw his shadow so maybe crawl back under the covers

Very "apt" to put this in the pagan section.. ;)

Only-begotten Son ..

sometimes called "Justinian's Hymn", and/or the "Hymn of the Incarnation", was composed around the 4th or 5th centuries.

It is claimed that Arian arguments that used texts that refer to Christ as God's "only begotten Son" are based on a misunderstanding of the Greek word monogenēs and that the Greek word does not mean "begotten" in the sense we beget children but means "having no peer, unique".[/QUOTE]

In other words; 'The Most High in Creation,' The Supreme Personality of Godhead to have developed within our world.' I believe that would be Enoch who, at the age of 365, the number of days in a calendar year, was taken to the throne of the Most High in the creation and anointed as his HEIR and successor, to serve God before the body of Adam/mankind into all eternity.

The word “CHRIST” means “The Anointed One.” Enoch was the one anointed by the Most-High in the creation, ‘The Lord of Creatures,’ as his Heir and successor, (The Son of Man) who is Lord of spirits.

Christ is the English term for the Greek Χριστός (Khristós) meaning "The anointed one" It is a translation of the Hebrew מָשִׁיחַ (Māšîaḥ), usually transliterated into English as Messiah or Mashiach. The Hebrew word translated "anointed" is the verb form of the noun "Messiah."

"The Book of the Secrets of Enoch" 22: 8; "And I fell prone and bowed down to the Lord, and the Lord with his lips said to me: "Have courage, Enoch, do not fear, arise and stand before my face into eternity."

And the archistratiege Michael lifted me up, and led me before the Lord’s face.

[Archistratege. Or "the commander of the armies of the nations, named Michael."]

And the Most-High said to the glorious creatures that surrounded him, tempting them: "Let Enoch stand before my face into eternity," and the glorious creatures bowed down to the Lord, and said: "Let Enoch go [Or be released] according to Thy word." Enoch, was the first to be released.

And the Lord said to Michael: "Go take Enoch from out his earthly garments, and anoint him with my sweet ointment, and put him into the garments of my glory."

And Michael did thus as the Lord told him. He anointed me, and dressed me, and the appearance of that ointment is more than the great light, and his ointment is like sweet dew, and its smell mild, shining like the sun’s rays, and I looked at myself, and was like one of his glorious ones.

To translate something is to change it from one form to another. Hebrews 11: 5; “By faith Enoch was translated so that he should not experience death, and he was not found because God had translated him.”

Enoch was the one from the earlier age of Man that was destroyed by water, who was chosen to serve God before the body of Adam into all eternity. Peter speaks of the flood being symbolic of Baptism. the body of Adam is submerged in the baptismal waters of the world and the body of Enoch rising from those waters.

Noah, his wife, their three sons and their wives are all direct genetic descendants of Enoch, (The Anointed one,) through his six sons, Methusulah, Rigam, Riman, Urchan, Cherminian, and Giadad.

1 Peter 3, 20-21; The few people in the boat — eight in all — were saved by the water, which was a symbol pointing to baptism, which now saves you.

OK, but just to clarify for pagans, this is not Scripture, it's from apocryphal text – late 1st century BC to late 1st century AD – the later date be preferred. There is a reference to 2 Enoch in Origen – but then he doesn't treat it as Scripture, either.

AND WHILE YOU'RE AT IT Thomas, tell them pagans to check out the reference that you give in defense of your false claims.

And explain to them also, how Jesus and the apostles taught from the books of Enoch, which were held in great reverence by many of the Church Fathers, including Irenaeus, Origen and Tertullian and were cherished by the early Christians til the fourth century when they were banned by dogmatic Roman authorities, such as Jerome, Hilary and Augustine, untill the middle of the 5th century when they finally passed out of circulation and were thought lost for millennia.

The oldest COPIES and I repeat COPIES of the Book of Enoch, dating from the third century BCE, were discovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls. How old were the originals from which they were copied?

Moses received some of the regulations, rules and laws, that the Israelites were to keep for all time, from the words of Enoch the Righteous.

The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs, is a collection of ancient Hebrew manuscripts that are believed to have been recorded from the Jewish oral tradition by a Pharisee during the Hasmonean (Maccabean) high priesthood of John Hyrcanus, and in the Testament of the Patriarch's, a number of the Tribal Fathers including Benjamin, quote from the words of Righteous Enoch and according to the bible scholar R.H. Charles, the Testaments were written sometime between 137 and 107 BCE.

OK.

Encyclopaedia Britannica: First Book of Enoch:
First Book of Enoch, also called Ethiopic Book of Enoch, pseudepigraphal work (not included in any canon of scripture) whose only complete extant version is an Ethiopic translation of a previous Greek translation made in Palestine from the original Hebrew or Aramaic.

Enoch ... was the subject of abundant apocryphal literature, especially during the Hellenistic period of Judaism (3rd century BC to 3rd century AD)... This portrait of Enoch as visionary was influenced by the Babylonian tradition of the 7th antediluvian king, Enmenduranna, who was linked to the sun god and received divine revelations. The story of Enoch reflects many such features of the Babylonian myth.

... Its oldest portion is the “Apocalypse of Weeks,” written shortly before the Maccabean uprising of 167 BC against the Seleucids. Other sections, especially those dealing with astronomical and cosmological speculations, are difficult to date. Because of its views on messianism, celibacy, and the fate of the soul after death, parts of I Enoch may have originated with or been influenced by the Essene community of Jews at Qumrān. No fragments of the longest portion of the work (chapters 37–71), however, were found among the Qumrān writings. This has led scholars to theorize that this section was perhaps written in the 2nd century AD by a Jewish Christian who wished to imbue his own eschatological speculations with the authority of Enoch, and added his work to four older apocryphal Enoch writings.

Encyclopaedia Britannica: Second Book of Enoch:
Second Book of Enoch, also called Slavonic Book of Enoch, pseudepigraphal work whose only extant version is a Slavonic translation of the Greek original. The Slavonic edition is a Christian work, probably of the 7th century AD, but it rests upon an older Jewish work written sometime in the 1st century AD (but before the destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem in AD 70, because there are references to pilgrimages and cultic rituals connected with temple worship)...

A product of the Greek-speaking Jewish Diaspora centred in Alexandria, Egypt, II Enoch includes many of the motifs characteristic of Hellenistic religious literature: visionary journeys, astrological calculations, a highly developed angelology, personal confrontations with divine beings, and a structural view of heaven.

Third Enoch
The Third Book of Enoch was written in the fifth/sixth century and describes how the second-century rabbi Ishmael journeyed into heaven and saw God's throne and chariot. This work has influenced the Zohar, the sacred book of Kabbala.

Reading Acts: What is 3 Enoch?
Some argue the earliest stratum of the text dated to the 1st century AD, although the main body of the text was 3rd AD.

Third Enoch is especially important for the study of Jewish mysticism, especially merkabah mysticism. Merkabah mysticism is based on the throne vision of Ezekiel 1-3. A mystic is “caught up” into heaven and receives a vision of the wonders of heaven, the throne of God and the chariot of his glory. The visions are usually filled with fantastic descriptions of angelic beings. This is a very difficult area of study because sources are esoteric and often limited because the visions were secret. The Talmud considered these so esoteric they were not to be discussed (P. Alexander, “Third Enoch” in ABD 2:523).

There are references to the earliest elements in Scripture, but we can see that much is at best contemporary if not post-dating Christ.

1 Enoch contains the earliest elements, but references to them in Scripture does not render the books divinely inspired or canonical. St Paul notably quotes the Cretan poet Epimedes.

As I understand it, the Jews regarded 1 Enoch as apocryphal because there is no lineage tradition of its transmission, and elements of the text clearly derive from the Book of Deuteronomy.

THE TESTAMENT OF SIMEON, THE SECOND OF JACOB AND LEAH.

I have seen it inscribed in the writing of Enoch that your sons shall be corrupted in fornication, 5 and shall do harm to the sons of Levi with the sword. But they shall not be able to withstand Levi; 6 for he shall wage the war of the Lord, and shall conquer all your hosts. And they shall be few in number, divided in Levi and Judah, and there shall be none of you for sovereignty, even as also our father prophesied in his blessings.

THE TESTAMENT OF LEVI, THE THIRD SON OF JACOB AND LEAH

10 1 Now, therefore, observe whatsoever I command you, children: for whatsoever things I have 2 heard from my fathers I have declared unto you. And behold I am clear from your ungodliness and transgression, which ye shall commit in the end of the ages [against the Saviour of the world, Christ, acting godlessly], deceiving Israel, and stirring up against it great evils from the 3 Lord. And ye shall deal lawlessly together with Israel, so He shall not bear with Jerusalem because of your wickedness; but the veil of the temple shall be rent, so as not to cover your 4 shame. And ye shall be scattered as captives among the Gentiles, and shall be for a reproach 5 and for a curse there. For the house which the Lord shall choose shall be called Jerusalem, as is contained in the book of Enoch the righteous.

14. And now, my children, I have learned from the writing of Enoch that at the last you will deal ungodly, laying your hands upon the Lord in all malice; and your brethren shall be ashamed because of you, and to all the Gentiles shall it become a mocking. For our father Israel shall be pure from the ungodliness of the chief priests who shall lay their hands upon the Saviour of the world.

16. And now I have learned in the book of Enoch that for seventy weeks will you go astray, and will profane thepriesthood, and pollute the sacrifices, and corrupt the law, and set at nought the words of the prophets. In perverseness you will persecute righteous men, and hate the godly; the words of the faithful will you abhor, and the man who renews the law in the power of the Most High will you call a deceiver; and at last, as you suppose, you will slay Him, not understanding His resurrection, wickedly taking upon your own heads the innocent blood. Because of Him shall your holy places be desolate, polluted even to the ground, and you shall have no place that is clean; but you shall be among the Gentiles a curse and a dispersion, until He shall again look upon you, and in pity shall take you to Himself through faith and water.

18. For I have read also in the books of Enoch the righteous what evils you shall do in the last days. Take heed, therefore, my children, of fornication and the love of money; hearken to Judah your father, for these things do withdraw you from the law of God, and blind the understanding of the soul, and teach arrogance, and suffer not a man to have compassion upon his neighbour: they rob his soul of all goodness, and bind him in toils and troubles, and take away his sleep and devour his flesh, and hinder the sacrifices of God; and he remembers not blessing, and he hearkens not to a prophet when he speaks, and is vexed at the word of godliness. For one who serves two passions contrary to the commandments of God cannot obey God, because they have blinded his soul, and he walks in the day-time as in the night.

IV.— The Testament of Judah Concerning Fortitude, and Love of Money, and Fornication.

VI.— The Testament of Zebulun Concerning Compassion and Mercy.

you will walk in all evil, working the abominations of the Gentiles, going astray with women of them that are ungodly; and the spirits of error shall work in you with all malice. For I have read in the book of Enoch the righteous, that your prince is Satan, etc, etc.

VIII.— The Testament of Naphtali Concerning Natural Goodness.
4. These things I say, my children, for I have read in the holy writing of Enoch that you yourselves also will depart from the Lord, walking according to all wickedness of the Gentiles, and ye will do according to all the iniquity of Sodom. And the Lord will bring captivity upon you, etc, etc.

XII.— The Testament of Benjamin Concerning a Pure Mind.
Now I suppose, from the words of the righteous Enoch, that there will be also evil-doings among you: for you will commit fornication with the fornication of Sodom, and shall perish all save a few, and will multiply inordinate lusts with women; and the kingdom of the Lord shall not be among you, for immediately He will take it away. Nevertheless the temple of God shall be built in your portion, and shall be glorious among you. For He shall take it, and the twelve tribes shall be gathered together there, and all the Gentiles, until the Most High shall send forth His salvation in the visitation of His only-begotten one. And He shall enter into the front of the temple, and there shall the Lord be treated with outrage, and He shall be lifted up upon a tree. And the veil of the temple shall be rent, and the Spirit of God shall descend upon the Gentiles as fire poured forth. And He shall arise from the grave, and shall ascend from earth into heaven: and I know how lowly He shall be upon the earth, and how glorious in the heaven.

Since this thread is already well off the original post's track -

Since Enochian literature is of interest to you, @The Anointed , do you also study the work of renaissance magicians John Dee and Edward Kelly? If so, do you have an opinion on the proper pronounciation of the so-called Enochian language, of the texts these two gentlemen produced?
