I'm new here. Originally I tried to register for another religion-themed forum, but for whatever reason I couldn't get the confirmation e-mail.

So I searched for a different form, and I landed here. Fortunately, this one worked.

My beliefs as of now are a combination of Christianity and Confucianism, somewhat in the manner of (though I'm a Protestant) Matteo Ricci.

Hi, and welcome aboard!

Hopefully, serendipity ....

Interesting.

from wiki:
"He (Ricci) did not explain the Catholic faith as entirely foreign or new; instead, he said that the Chinese culture and people always believed in God and that Christianity is simply the completion of their faith..."
In the spirit of St Paul to the Athenians (Acts 18).

"Dominican and Franciscan missionaries considered this an unacceptable accommodation, and later appealed to the Vatican on the issue."
No doubt territorial politics was at play here, as well as the theological issue ... c'est la vie!

Once again, welcome.

Hi and welcome..
You might be able to guess what religion I subscribe to :)
Sure.

I was recently in the mosque of my city for iftar dinner, because a friend of mine (who works at the Saudi Embassy) invited me.

I didn't feel it to be right if I went there for a meal but didn't fast. So, I fasted.

I do intermittent fasting from time, but for that I get to drink water. But going without water wasn't so easy.

We won't hold that against you....much

Welcome...my beliefs are also a combination, ask any theologically devout practitioner here and they will tell you I believe a mix of nonsense and soup du jour.

I basically come here to read a post, and then see what my fingers chose to peck out in any given moment. I enjoy reading my response to learn what I am thinking

Oh hey, reversely belated birfdee...I am currently 16 years behind ya, next week it will be 15, the week after that back to 16.

When I was turning teen I was envious of the generation just before me...watching the birth of rock n roll, counter culture, bra burning, sexual revolution....that was a heavy duty era of change which I bodysurfed into the 21st century pushed by that wave.

Ai will send us through another age of primordial ooze....although i doubt I'll see the butterfly emerge.

Welcome, thanks for introducing yourself! And I hope you will enjoy this place!

Welcome :)

I believe the forum you mentioned, if the same one, had problems with old software and is now functional again

It's a forum with a similar theme, though there seems to be more members there. I tried re-sending my confirmation e-mail but I've had no luck.

Welcome Kenny. That forum has had a broken email confirmation for a couple of years now. I am in the same boat, as I changed my email and could never get the confirmation email.

There are a few here that are or have been on that forum.

You can use the contact us option and an Admin can activate the account. One person here is an Admin on that forum.

Regards Tony

Welcome Kenny. Confusianism and Dao. Two things that I never studied and do not know about. If Confusianism is about sticking to tradition, then it is OK for me.
I am a Hindu (non-dualist) and a strong atheist (You get to know all kind of people on internet).
@wil, are you doing some sort of time travel? Would you be able to take me somewhere around 1965-70?

Time travel would be awesome.

I wonder if it is possible? I wonder ever since I read this passage back in about 1984.

"....O SERVANT of Bahá! Be self-sacrificing in the path of God, and wing thy flight unto the heavens of the love of the Abhá Beauty, for any movement animated by love moveth from the periphery to the center, from space to the Daystar of the universe. Perchance thou deemest this to be difficult, but I tell thee that such cannot be the case, for when the motivating and guiding power is the divine force of magnetism it is possible, by its aid, to traverse time and space easily and swiftly. Glory be upon the people of Bahá."

It may be only a spiritual meditation, but I await a scientific breakthrough with magnetic propulsion. 🤣👌

Kudos for Bahaollah's science. All it takes is a few magnets. :bang head:

I see more than that, it also mentions the force "moveth from the periphery to the center", which is used along with the guiding power of the Magnetic forces.

Interestingly, if one searches periphery+center+magnetic propulsion, there is a lot of Patent already on Magnetic Propulsion, so who knows what science will bring to us in the tines yet to come?
