a figment of your imagination
Santa is in the mall, the city and individual homes are putting up lights, the tree salesmen are out, the stores are hoping their adverts will bring them into the profit mode by this upcoming religious holiday of extravagant buying.

I'm gonna go to a Krampus parade over the weekend...does that count too?

I worked my life in construction and always wrapped presents in old building plans of places I built...because I recycle, repurpose, or because I am frugal or cheap or have scrooge tendencies...you choose. But I have been retired for over a decade and I am running out of rolls of paper!

Fully aware this is IO and there are other holidays...but this is the Christian forum...

I am meeting up with my clan on the 23rd so they can have the day or other days to meet with significant others families, friends, or divorced parents or shuffle kids to see divorced formerly significant others.

We do a gift exchange draw for the adults with a 40$ present rule, and then the little ones get flooded with stuff.

My mom puts up a tree, decorates, has little Christmas villages....I just show up where they take me...lol.

What do you do?

It's coming on Christmas
They're cutting down trees
They're putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
Oh, I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
-- Joni Mitchell 'River'

In my (glassblowing demonstration) trade the busy times are when others are on holiday. So I'm trying to get a bit of stock together for Christmas and then hopefully take the whole month of January off to hibernate, like other creatures do in winter, lol

I turned 70 this year and don't know how much longer I'll be able to carry on with it -- especially the commuting in winter

However much Christmas is commercially abused, I think the feast of the nativity of Christ still brings a powerful dose of white magic into the material world

Other than Christmas or Thanksgiving does anyone ever stuff and bake a whole turkey?

For me that has never occurred more than twice a year.

If it is so good why do we not do it more often....and if it isn't why do we do it at all?

I've been thinking Christmas day was on Wednesday, just found out it's actually on Monday, lol

Gonna! Thx. The entire immediate fsmily....great grandma thru great grandkids in one place...doesn't happen often.

Pretty wild that I am here for it....5 years after my aorta blew up. I know many of you think I should be thankful to a supernatural power or entity...but i am incredibly thankful to the family who sat with me (and yeah, some of them prayed) and the thousands of scientific breakthrus and literally hundreds of folks who dedicated their lives to educating themselves on medical advancements and took care of me...and ObamaCare...I gotta thank a nation of taxpayers as well.

Everyone have a merry Christmas as we celebrate a dude that definitely changed the world.

Merry Christmas to all!
