Hello everyone,

I was raised in a Hindu household and have, over the years, embraced elements of Eastern philosophies, Buddhism, science, and mysticism. This journey has fostered a deep appreciation for the oneness and interconnectedness of all spiritual paths. My partner of six years is Muslim, and we share progressive, inclusive views on faith and life, respecting both our individual and shared spiritual journeys.

As we plan to marry and to honor her family’s wishes, I have agreed to recite the Shahada. I recognize the oneness of God and acknowledge Muhammad as a prophet who conveyed universal truths, which aligns with my broader spiritual outlook. However, I do not necessarily view Muhammad as the last prophet, nor do I believe that Islam is the sole true way to understand the universe.

My intention is not to convert in the traditional sense but to integrate this step into my ongoing syncretic practice of spirituality. I am currently seeking out a mosque or an Imam who appreciates a more inclusive, interfaith approach. Ideally, someone who would be open to facilitating my recitation of the Shahada in a way that respects my beliefs, including the possibility of wearing symbolic elements like my Buddhist beaded bracelet, among other considerations that honor a syncretic approach.

Does anyone here have advice, or could anyone provide contacts or recommend mosques known for their progressive values and understanding of diverse spiritual expressions? Any guidance or contacts you could provide would be immensely appreciated as we navigate this important step in our lives.

Thank you all for your time and understanding. I am hopeful for any support in finding a suitable spiritual guide who respects the nuances of my personal journey.

Hello everyone,
...
Hello, and welcome. :)

I'm not trying to be nosey, but would it be possible for me to ask about families of both
partners?
I feel sure that the way forward is through family and community .. if possible.

If impossible, then it depends on where you live, I would have thought.
