I noticed my older posts are missing the attachments. What happened?

Which older posts, please?

Pretty much every thread I have ever made has issues.

I cannot find a single image I posted...

Oh, right - this might help:

TL;DR, we suffered a massive server failure last year.

The images are actually on the server .. it might be something to do with settings
or permissions.
If you don't want to bother your technicians, you could give me temporary admin privileges
so I could look into it .. if you like.. :)

It's all gone - I couldn't do a full server move so had to rebuild the forums from scratch. Anything that shows as lost is unfortunately gone.

No .. the images are still on the server.
..but they are not being shown in the posts for some reason.

The database files should not have been modified .. see How attachments are stored in XenForo

..so it could be something to do with settings/permissions.

It used to be the case that images could be saved either in the database or the server. Anything in the database was safe, but anything saved to the server is gone. For example, one of the missing images should be found with this link:

However, the image is missing - unfortunately gone. It seems to specifically apply to older images rather than newer ones, presumably because of a settings change at some point, possibly from a software upgrade.

It's fixable .. the images are still on the server.

They're not showing up as on the server in the admin panel, either.

The link I posted is where an example image should be but is missing - where do you think it might be?

Somewhere in the file hierarchy ..
eg. .../internal_data/attachments/2930/

Leave it, then.. 😑

No worries - I did just have a look and there are very few attachments still stored on the server, and none with anything like that number. Thank you, though. :)

Thanks everyone for looking into it.

I was thinking of putting the images back in, however the editing is turned off.

Well, you couldn't have looked very hard, because I know they are there. :)
Well, they were before the server move. :)

If any were still present it should be easy to link to them. If they can't be linked to then I would have thought that suggested either a problem with the forum software itself, or else the attachments are missing.

I don't see any mileage in trying to edit and tidy up threads a few years old. Discussion moves on, am sure you'll get the opportunity to use any such images again. :)

RJM and myself acted to preserve the whole site in its entirety.
..but I'm not that bothered .. whatever the "gaffer" wishes. :)
