The Bread of Shame

I recently ran across the idea of "the bread of shame" which is apparently, a concept in Judaism, that to be given something you did not earn has a heavy shame associated with it. I'm trying to make sense of it and how it is important spiritually, in either mainstream Judaism or Kabbalah Judaism

It seems like a really simple, straightforward idea, but I wondered at what was important about it spiritually, whether I was missing something.
In the articles below, the last one seems to go into some depth.

I was wondering if anybody else had any thoughts about it.

The term “bread of shame” is, in fact, a kabbalistic term. Non-kabbalists do on occasion make mention of the term, but usually only to say that kabbalists call a certain set of feelings and reactions the bread of shame. The term has its own baggage.

Would love to hear more.

I had not heard the phrase, but sort of understand the feeling. Would it fall along with imposter syndrome notion of today?

Do kabbalists.attribute more to it than non kaballists and if so how?

Yes, I'd love to discuss it more, but I don't really understand the context or what ethic or action they are trying to promote - other than the general advice "work for things" which is advice you can get anywhere.

It reminds me unpleasantly of people who try to shame public assistance. 😒 I'd like to think that's not what they are going for.
