There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio

Actor Kirk Cameron, long time outspoken evangelical, has recently reported that his theology leans more towards annihilationist or conditionalist soteriology rather than ECT (eternal conscious torment)

A lot of people seems really upset with him about it.

Why?

It's not like it's new. He didn't make it up. There are entire denominations that believe this and have made their own cases for ages.

Why so much upset with him?

..because it appears to go against what Jesus is reported to have said in the Gospels.

However, I don't see why we can't just leave it at "G-d knows best" how long people will suffer in hell.
..rather than insisting that people will suffer forever and ever and ever.......

..but this JW version asserts that nobody will suffer .. just 'hey presto!' and all is no more.
..which we are told is "what the Bible says" through the cherry-picking of verses.

Comprendez? :)

I dont know why it matters.. its not a salvation issue. Theres too much division happening in the body of Christ.

My initial reaction is shared with Thomas - anything and everything gets so overblown in terms of social media. All it takes is 5 people to disagree with something, and some newspaper somewhere will write a headline starting with the words OUTRAGE AT...
